Oh boy....been mentioning this off and on for months and after last night's problem with her, I thought it was time to make a topic here just to let this all out and maybe share my frustration and sympathy with other battlers out there that have a Challanger that has or had become their own headache.

Around the battle reset we had, end of last year or early this year, I noticed Mad Miscalculation's wins along with Hard Forji's weren't updating. I left a ticket got a responce ( sent a screenshot as proof) and was waiting for 2-3 months after with no update on when it would be fixed. I started to lose hope and was considering buying the cabinet for Mutated and flat out giving up on Forji and took to the forums in my upset over the long wait. The ticket was switched to another admin that was able to fix the problem and also discovered I had another win before the reset that should have counted for Mad Miscalculation, meaning the achive had been buged for awhile.

Foji afterward started counting again but Mad Miscalculation continues to need tickets. During Mascarade, I managed to get another win by luck or stat growth. Left a ticket and was again left waiting, after afew weeks or so of not wanting to touch anything ( and once again considering buying the cabinet just to get my reward and not deal with the bugged achive), I was told I could keep trying to get wins so I wanted to try to get her finished asap and end the mess.....and I suddenly started hitting brick walls.

She started out damaging me ( My set is full of below 11 tier and possibly 10 tier weapons), thankfully I had enough for the Paint Brush Blades so I bought them and was able to continue the fight. Then I started getting freeze locked, asking the forum I was told to get more Parched Baggets to get the anti freeze buff to activate more often. On the LAST win I need to finish Mad Miscalculation, nothing of the above worked due to her damage, asked again and learned my scrolls needed updated and was suggested the Aftershocks Scroll or Gift of the Forji. By this point the admin was able to fix the problem and has left my ticket open for when I get this last win.

This brings me to last night....I finally blow my savings from spare retired easter items and questing during the holiday and get the Aftershocks scroll.....and my hopes of ending this nightmare have been dashed. She's freezing me first turn even with Parched kicking in and I can't keep up enough heals or damage to make up for it. Now I fear unless I save up for high end ( price wise) weapons, I can't beat her, a process I went threw with my Ether that took months to years and didn't want to go threw again. On top of that, the ticket, while still open, has been afew months ago since it was resolved so I fear I'm in for another long wait already......if this is going to take me a year or more then I'd hate to bug the admin after so long. Anymore this Challanger has become my personal bane and troll and has alone sucked all the fun out of battling for me and will continue to until I finally get that achive done or just give up on getting it and Mutant Scientist unlocked all together.

Update: You have defeated Mad Scientist 9 times!

Seems the nightmare is now over minus the waiting game on it needing manually updated. Still won't forget this headache >_< and feel free to share your own stories of challengers that have become thorns in your side either from being road blocks or other things related to them having problems.

For me there's no particular challenger, but the battle system itself. I've been a member for nearly twelve years. Early on, I worked at learning the battle system. Trained my main battle pet. Spent a boatload of sP on a good weapon set. Started battling in earnest.

Then they changed the system and the battle set I'd worked so hard to learn, and then buy, was suddenly useless and worthless. Disheartened, I nevertheless set out to learn the new system. To figure out the best way to battle, which weapons I needed this time and so on.

Saved up more sP for my dream battle set with this new system. Trained and worked hard to earn sP. Finally I was able to buy my second dream set. And it was glorious, and battling was fun!

You'll never guess what happened next! Well yeah, maybe you can. They changed the system AGAIN. Sigh...more worthless steel. That's pretty much when I quit battling. Oh, I still train my main battle pet, I do battle quests, and so on. But I haven't tried to learn the system, which I'm thankful for, because its been changed a few more times since then. I don't have very good weapons, but battling is already a huge sP sink, even if they don't change the system every few days. I'm not tossing good sP after bad anymore.

So now, battling is boring. I use no strategy, I just hit and hit and hit until I die or they do. And that's it. No fun.

I have tons of crystals, baguettes, whatever, that I don't use because I haven't bothered to learn the system.

Almost any opponent that can freeze/steal has an element of randomness to it - even with the best weapons/options, you can still lose as easily as you can win.

Sometimes you just have to try a bunch of times and hope for everything to line up (your blessings staying up, blasting a key item, not getting crit, scoring crits, etc.).

Also blessings only count for the next turn, so if one activates first turn it's not effective until second turn (hence being able to be frozen first turn even if it looks like a blessing went up!).

With your stats, I think Mad Scientist is totally doable - maybe just some set/strategy tweaks? Good luck!

[edit] Do you have multiple freezing scrolls equipped, like Shriek of Despair or Psycho Smasher? The amount of difference those can make, if you aren't already using them, is astonishing! There's even a new one you can earn with 75 wins each on Mama Mush and Daemon that is pretty good. c:
