I got my determination notice in the mail yesterday, the letter that tells me whether or not my health care through the state has been renewed or denied. It was denied. Why? Because I'm not blind, disabled, pregnant, etc. That is NOT WHY I GOT IT OR RENEWED IT YOU FUCKING MORONIC PIECES OF SHIT! I got it about three or four years ago because I am low-income. That's why I've renewed it since, because that situation hasn't changed. That's why I went to renew it this time. But noooooo, they have to make this a fucking nightmare because this caseworker I have can't do a single thing right. She doesn't answer her phone, she doesn't return my calls, she never answers her email, but can I get a new one? Nope, because I'm assigned to her and only her. This is bullshit. I have an extremely important appointment with my endocrinologist on the 31st of this month and I now have no fucking clue how I'm going to pay for that because HELLO! STILL LOW-INCOME OVER HERE ASSHOLES. I can't cancel it. It's the last appointment, or hopefully the last anyways, in a series that started months ago. And I really need it because I'm gaining weight like a mofo after my treatment and that needs to stop and be reversed. I just...I don't understand why this whole process has to be so fucking hard. I get that they need to weed out people that are faking it or trying to cheat the system or whatever, but that is NOT ME. It's never been me! I get it because I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING DIE. I'll call my useless-as-shit caseworker later, I faxed in a pile of paperwork this morning at work, and I'm mailing the same paperwork 'snail-mail' this afternoon, and now I just get to sit here and stew in my anxiety until I hear from them. And it had better be the correct decision this time because again, DON'T WANT TO DIE.

Am I the only one who has this much trouble getting anything from the State? People not in the US - is it this hard where you are? WHY DOES THE UNIVERSE HATE ME?!

[edit] So since I've posted this, I've tried multiple ways to get insurance. My work used to have insurance for full AND part time, but apparently it's only full time now, which I'm not anymore, so I can't get it from work. And I'm trying to get more hours, but it needs to be a steady 32 hours a week at least or I'm not full time anymore.

I've tried applying through the marketplace, but have you SEEN those prices?! Jesus Christ. The lowest one I could find was just over $75 a month. The copays were a stretch. Prescriptions have to be paid for up front and then reimbursed, which I can't afford. So this is a no-go too.

Now I have a voicemail left with a lady at the county to make an appointment to hopefully meet with her and try and figure something out that won't leave me without any money at all each month to, you know, do frivolous shit like EAT and buy GAS. Because who the fuck needs that?! Ugh. FML.

I never had a caseworker when I did mine and I wound up getting a state funded insurance (since I'm completely unemployed) that's one of the best right now. o.o; The only help I had was from my parents with figuring out some of the more technical insurance jargon I had to slog through.

in the uk so far all my experiences with the nhs have been wonderful but back in italy... oh boy italian healthcare sure is something :v

one time my psychiatrist (who was an absolute joke but i digress) needed me to get a psychiatric evaluation (idk if that's the right word?? w/e lol) which she couldn't do because rome is divided into various municipalities and basically i needed my "area" doctor to do it thing is i had no fucking idea who that was and couldn't ask my parents so i literally went to 6 different hospitals in the span of one morning, because each one i visited kept referring me to someone else ¯(ツ)/¯ i mean i did eventually get to the right place and get the thing done but.......... it was not a good time lmao

I'm not even telling my parents that this is happening, at least not right now. They'll just flip out and bother me about it every five seconds and I don't need even more stress. There's nothing they can really do anyways.

I'm not sure if there's anyone above my caseworker...even getting ahold of the office is a royal pain in the ass. Not to mention going over there and waiting in the waiting room, ugh. It's a mass of humanity, to put it lightly, and I'm not even sure if anyone there would bother to see me, but I will have to try that next I guess.
