hahaha what have i gotten myself into now? me and my big mouth agreed to join in a dress up market weekend...

"dress like a tree" is the theme

um... doesnt a tree seems boring??? well i got this idea to going as a cactus plant or as mother nature herself?

throw idea at me please ... i got 3 weeks to decide LOL

I like the Mother Nature idea. Maybe something of the sort, like a tree nymph/ tree spirit of your favorite tree? With green (and maybe brown) clothes and makeup and accessories with flowers, leaves or fruits of the tree.

Cactus could be fun, but I don't really know of how to make a cool cactus costume that would not be too uncomfortable to wear.

^^ Yes, maybe. I've never tried to make a cactus costume, but I just searched for pictures online and some are not bad at all. They're better than most of the tree costumes I saw.

i just want to be the laugh of the day and want people to think " why didnt i think of that?"" and might walk away with the main prize... since the best dress up will win a prize

That's a cool objective! ^^ If I was going to a party like that and planned to try to win the prize, I think I would go as a famous tree (maybe a famous fictional tree from a movie/cartoon/ book, or a mythological tree like Yggdrasil). so it would still be fully in the theme but it would also be more original than most other costumes. If you want to have a humoristic costumes and be the laugh of the day, cactus is great. Or something like Christmas Tree (yes, in June).

you could do wood designs on your skin with eyeliner, get a green costume wig and sew/pin leaves into it. :D

hahah i can just see it now.... a christmas tree walking around in June... not december hahahahahaha oh boy.... i got some ideas.... but now i got to go buy the things... and i am on the hunt for green nail polish... i am going all out this time

I think I would get a cheap green dress from a thrift store, something knee-length, and some cheap fake leaves from maybe Jo-Anns or Michaels, and sew the leaves on in a pattern, like maybe a swoosh from one shoulder to the bottom corner of the other side, maybe in a swirl around the dress. Use the same leaves to make wristbands and a headband or scrunchie or something else for your hair. Then wear brown leggings/tights and shoes. You could use some makeup to draw green swirls or leaves or such on your face, maybe find some green lipstick and nail polish...green contacts if you're so inclined. I would clip the fake leaves all throughout my hair, a ton of them, just by hot-gluing them to bobby pins and putting them in that way. I love doing stuff like this!

wow that's all great but i got a long sleeved shirt and still going to buy pants... i got brownish pants i might use... i got green nail polish LOL i still need to make my "fairy wings" i saw some pretty photos of wings i wont be able to make.... wish i had a cosplayer to help me hahaha i think my mind is set on going as Mother Nature... or a forest fairy..
