I had saved just enough for the next pet slot but was holding off until something good came along. Well I can't go past older pets and had to grab ......saphira..... but the name and gender don't really fit together (to me anyway. Is it okay if I zap until the gender changes or is that generally frowned on by players? I'm tossing up between Lilac Blob and Glade Zentu (or wait until a new Zentu colour comes out).

I just don't want to upset/offend the previous owner or other players. Thanks Joanne

If you adopted the pet directly from the previous owner, they might have had preferences for the pet on their forum thread, but even if that was the case, ultimately, the pet is yours now. You're 100% free to do whatever you want with it :)

I got it out of the adoption centre. I know there is generally rules/expectations that players have that are in addition to what the site may have. So didn't want to end up on anyones bad side.

Any pet is free to change really. If you own it the options are limitless! I got some of my pets from the pound, some from other users. If I wanted and had the sp to turn them all into say lilac blobs. Because they are mine and once given to/ adopted by me are mine to play how I see fit.

Usually the stipulations only apply to adopted from forums pets. That tends to be give the old owner a heads up if you won't keep the pet because they might like it back. Or to not change the name or something else about them. But even those aren't enforced because they aren't site rules.

Say I gave you Nissa and told you I'd like her back if you couldn't keep her and to not change her color. You can agree to those all you want, but reality would be once I gave her to you she's yours to change. So if you wanted to make her into a male reborn montre I couldn't stop you. However most people have the courtesy to at least go along with the one of offering a pet back. I've seen boards where someone had a pet for YEARS and still let the old owner know.

So really change the name, zap it all you want. Re color the zaps you get, its all your choice for your pet.

It's so thoughtful of you to be concerned about the previous owner! That's really nice, but as others have already said, it's fine to modify your new pet. If you found it on adoption center, it means that whoever had this pet earlier, didn't want them anymore. So, you are free to do whatever suits your new pet's personality better.

If you get a pet(s) from the pound, you are free to do whatever you want with it, unless you adopt it from a user who has specifics (ex: keep the species the same, but feel free to change the colour)
