The shop till displays the text "This page will show the most recent 50 items your shop has sold. NOTE: These values are currently on a 5-minute cache."
I think this is unclear for many users who do not understand this meaning of cache. I would instead recommend: "This may take up to 5 minutes to update" or "This page only updates every five minutes", which may be clearer.
"The interesting hyperbolic structures on a pair of pants are easily classified" -Wikipedia, Pair of pants
I don't think cache is like a super technical word that most people, on average, wouldn't know. So I don't think there's a problem with the wording, really. I mean, you're already online if you're reading the site, right? Google is free.
I think this belongs in Suggestions
I learned the meaning of "cache" on subeta, only because it doesn't have an equivalent on my language. It may be confuse for some foreign players maybe, but I think most of native english-speaking players know what it means.
I have to admit I was confused at first. Not because of "cache", but because of "values". It sounds like the amount of sP your items sold for gets updated... somehow?? Makes no sense of course, but that's the only "value" that is visible to users. (I'm probably the only one who stumbled over that xD) So yeah I do think "this site is updated approx. every five minutes" would fix any confusion :D
- thanks for the ping, but I think this actually works fine for Site Feedback. The OP is responding directly to something on site, and instead of just complaining/praising (which is fine too!), also has a fix possible. I tend to think of S&I to be for ideas for things that are new, though there is some overlap.
I think that since this is supposed to be a relatively child/teen oriented site that a wording update would be good or have the definition of some of the words listed someplace easily accessible. Bonus points: helps with people who's first language isn't English.
