May is a very popular month for weddings. All the spring flowers are just out and the surroundings are fresh green and lively yet still softly colored. It´s warm but not hot, and even when you get sprinkled by a short shower of rain you still have the chance to see a rainbow! In some cultures, rain on a wedding day is considered good luck and a blessing because it stands for cleansing and fertility and it symbolizes the last tears the wedding pair will shed during their married life.

1. My dream wedding is pretty simple. It would probably be in a botanical garden, with gates and arches. There's definitely gonna be a tea table set up for food. It will be set up in the shade, maybe close to a tiny stream or something lol. I would have my wedding in the autumn season, where it's not too hot and no pollen nor snow :) Here are some pictures of where I want my wedding to be in:

There have to be some blue in it as that's my favorite color :) With flowers and wavy design around the cake. At the top there's going to be the miniature me and my partner. It would look very similar to this cake

1. Well I literally had my dream wedding. EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING was perfect!!! It was always my dream to walk down a staircase to my husband and I got to do just that. We danced with friends, ate cake, and cried, well I didn’t, my sister said why would you cry on such a happy day, and then they ALL ended up crying. It was the best day of my life and living the best day ever since.

2. We actually had two wedding cakes for our wedding. A groom’s cake and a traditional cake. So it was both modern and traditional. The cake inside MY cake was tuxedo. It was white and chocolate cake with a Nutella ganache in the center, soooo good. The grooms cake was modern, made to look like all the things my husband loves, and of course it had what he loved inside, it was a lemon cake with a raspberry ganache in the center!

3. I used lilies, white roses and little blue flowers for my wedding. The lilies were actually shipped from out of the country, not to my knowing. It was just perfect ^^

Ours was a May wedding. May 17 will be 3 years :) We had an outdoor/indoor type of wedding. The venue was turned from an old farm house into a wedding/meeting venue and we had three options to choose from in case of weather. Outside in the gazebo which we choose, under the covered patio, which was the one we had to do, or inside of the hall. The weather was rainy until the morning of our wedding, so the grounds were a bit soggy, so they moved us under the covered porch, which turned out just as beautiful. We got pictures in the gazebo at least and around the property. The reception in the hall was nice and some family members had gotten those sandwich, fruit, and dessert trays from SAMS and that fed everyone, that some took leftovers home haha. My dad and I performed The Hukilau and didn't tell my husband, so he had no clue what he was doing when we called him up to perform with us. The majority of our wedding was DIY and guest bags for afterwards were put together by myself and my parents. They were bubbles and seeds for everyone to plant.

My bouquet was from Etsy and I still have it in vase, and I bought the bridesmaids flowers from Etsy also. Lily of the Valley is May's flower, so that was incorporated. I had bought a throw-away bouqet at Michael's, so I couldn't have to throw my main one.

My clip-on earrings and necklace was made by one of my friends and the headband I bought on Etsy.

Wedding Venue and Flowers

Our colors were Emerald (May's birthstone) and White. There was no grooms cake and our cake was vanilla and chocolate. HEB (grocery store), makes some pretty good cake for a good price. I bought the serving utensils with the emerald ribbons on Etsy.

Wedding Cake

1. My dream wedding is very simple - I don't really care for location (it could be in the middle of the nowhere, on a beach, or just a courthouse) or dress, just as long as all my closest family and friends that we love are there.

2. Wedding cake! Just a single tiered cake, maybe in shape of a heart with edible decorations like beads and flowers. The colour scheme would be sky/light blues and silver.

3. Flowers would follow the colour scheme of the cake lol, so Morning Glories since they come in a variety of blues and are gorgeous. I would have them mixed in with white Jasmines in the same bouquet.

I made a little wedding party myself, based on our own Maui wedding: Tribal priest, conch blower to announce the pair, harp player, groom and bride and bridesmaid (the conch blower was the best man).

And thank you for liking my wedding pictures, too! I couldn´t put it down 1:1 in my HAs. I didn´t want my wedding pics here with hobbit feet, LOL. In Hawaii, the weddings always are bare-footed by tradition.

There was this funny story with my bridal shoes, too. I wasn´t able to buy nice fitting shoes here in Germany. I can´t walk in high heels and the flat ones all were so hard in material, really uncomfortable. I found a store in Los Angeles which offered satin bridal shoes, all comfy. So I ordered a pair and comfy they were, smooth and flat, yet the color wasn´t the exact color of my wild silk dress. Since there was no time left, we took them with us and our wedding planner told us there would be a shoe doctor on Maui who could easily change the color to the one I wanted. A word and a blow and really, the shoes were exactly the color I wanted them afterwards! The weddind day came 9 days later and I slipped into the satin ballerinas some minutes before our departure to the beach when the truth dawned upon me: the shoes had shinked minimum one number! Thank god our wedding was all bare foot, LOL. Afterwards in the Humuhumunukunukuapua`a restaurant (LOL, the name of the Hawaiian state fish), I had to tramp down the heel of the shoe so my wedding day was all in some kind of mules, LOL.
