Do the discount cards from the cash shop and the MC stack? Do they stack with the random buff you get from buying from NPC shops as well?
And more anecdotally - is it worth it to buy these cards? Or, would you say it's only worth it when you already have a certain amount of sP (and what would that be, in your opinion?)
No and Yes ;). The discount cards do not stack with each other no matter where they come from - I think they just take which ever has a higher value in your inventory.
The buff and the discount cards do stack.
As for the value, that depends on your shopping habits and how dedicated you are. People take years to get back the value of the cards. The cards only work in the regular NPC shops - they don't work in the specialty sP shops like GoOutside, or the Zombie Den, or Subeautique for example.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I knew about them working only in the main shops, but not the rest. I kind of had a feeling that was the case, though. Definitely glad I asked before I made a purchase (since I was sort of planning to buy both <.< ) I was thinking about getting into the restocking game, but I'm not really online all the time...
Would they be very helpful if I was doing restocking? Or would you say that it's still a wash in that case?
I haven't worked it out in years. But back in the days before you could lock items in your inventory, I worked out that the 30% card was just barely worth it (for me, with my spending habits) - as a huge note, though, it was much cheaper when it first came out. Later when it came out more expensive, and the lower value discount cards, I didn't think any of them were worth it.
Take a look at your restock royalty value (19,053), that's the number of items you've bought in the time you've been here. I'm not sure what the average price of items is - it ranges from a few hundred from the cheaper shops, to 60K at the apocalyptic apothecary. Lets say the median price is around 2500. So (2500*19000)*30%, you would have saved 14,250,000 if you had bought a 30% discount card on your first day onsite. The card costs 150M, so obviously, not a good value. I'll leave you to work out the potential values for the other cards.
That said, if you concentrate on restocking at the most expensive shops AND you step up your restocking game, then it could pay for itself. But no one else can determine that for you. You're the one who knows yourself best - will you put in the time to earn the funds back? Will you be able to sustain the effort for years?

You've given me quite possibly the best reply to my question that I could have possibly asked for. Thank you so much - it's much easier to put this into perspective now.
Yeah, plugging numbers, even vague ones, can really help to put it into perspective.
Some people also really like restocking. One of my friends has made 4 times the number of purchases I have in the same amount of time onsite. You plug in her numbers and she'd have "paid" for the card twice over. So it really does depend.

It took me six years to 'pay off' my 30 discount card. Current numbers for me is Restock Royalty of 237928 and Discount Card 3752827510. This makes average saved per item for me to be 1579.
It depends on how much restocking you're planning to do, really. I personally don't think the 30% card is worth 150m at all. I bought the 20% card a few years ago (I'm not sure how many unfortunately, 3 or 4 maybe?), and I don't belive I would have it paid off yet, but there was a glitch when the Free Shop was open and everyone's discount card numbers got fucked, so I don't actually know how much I'd be at if that hadn't happened (I was at around 12 or 13m saved the last I remember, out of 20m that I spent on the card)
