I went to legal aid on Friday. She's going to take me on because I have a really strong case against this ass hat and he's already broken two laws.

I have to file two forms (It's $50 PER form. Yeah. Nice) in two week. I have a 3 hour appointment to go over the forums and if any corrections need to be made, I'm to get another paper and fill it out again. Next... you won't believe all the leg work I have to do. I had to request paper work from the city so I can get a copy of all the paper work that bylaw filed. That was a $5 request. Then, when the paper work is collected (will take 30 days), I have to pay 10 cents a page to get it copied. I was going to put it on a CD Rom, but I had no idea how much they can put it on it and was $15 for the disk. The guy told me I'm better off going with paper and now I'm like... "What happens if I have three case incidents at 10 pagers per case?" My math is only a grade 4 level, but I figure it's a lot of money. THEN.. I have to ask my doctor for paper work to state if my asthma has indeed become worse due to the mould in my unit. Then, I have to ask for bloodwork and get tested to see if I have mould in my blood.

I can't believe all of this; but personally, I would really like to know if I have spores in my blood because certain moulds (toxic) will damage organs overtime. Now.. I'm not jumping to conclusions, but if I test positive, I could sue.

I'm also going to ask my doctor if I can go for the skin prick allergy testing. The more I have... the better.

She did tell me that once he finds out he's been taken to court, he'll try to do the same. She said he needs a damn good reason to evict me and the accident I had in the kitchen which I don't have to repair before I move out.. is not one of them. And once the board sees my complaint on file, they'll basically laugh at him.

Even though it sounds rather expensive and requires a lot of effort on your part, I'm glad to hear you're going through with it! People like him should NOT be let off the hook--they should take responsibility for what they've done and pay for it. Can't be harassing people like that, and no way can you be a dick when someone rightfully calls you out for not doing your job. =/

Instead of getting copies, is it possible to get them emailed to you? If you have a phone, you can have direct access without paying anything at all.

Do you by chance do mould testing, or know anyone where you are that does it? I can send samples. Here in my city... I'm not paying $2,500

I really want to post pictures. I also want to move out, but this isn't a bad price and it's all inclusive. If the board rules in my favour, they'll order the landlord to do all necessary repairs by a certain date.

Unfortunately, we don't do mould testing. Most labs are quite expensive, but cost can be partly covered with insurance.

I saw this kit online that's $75 and then you swab your own sample and mail it to the States. They get back to you as soon as they test it and tell you what type it is and if it's toxic.

Aww, yeah, I understand what you mean about prices. The apartment that I currently live in is subsidized by my employer, so my rent is really cheap. (It doesn't include utilities, but utilities are relatively cheap anyway.) I considered moving out at one point because I wanted a bigger place. But the rent of every other place that I could find was at least 4 times more than what I pay for this place, so I totally nixed that idea. ><;;

Ah! I thought you were refering to blood test. We do these but we get our kits out of Amazon for around $60. They are certified.
