So I just got a car again (YAY).

Now I'm looking at being able to expand my job search options. Until i got my car i was limited to within walking or bus routes. Which after dark neither option is appealing in this town due to to crime at night.

However I would like some suggestions outside of retail. Been doin that for 10+ years and well I'm over it. I can go back if I need to since that is what I know and if I get hard up for finding work.

Part or full time jobs don't matter nor does seasonal. I'm aware garden shops do hire like crazy this time of year.

So any job ideas? Big companies maybe worth looking into? What job do you currently have and do you like it? Or maybe a job in the past?

Congrats on getting a car again! I'm glad that you've got a lot more options now. :)

I don't know much about your background or what skills you have, so it's a bit difficult to suggest ideas. I'll give it a crack anyhow - have you tried secretary/receptionist work? Or being a personal assistant? Or a technician? It's a bit different to retail but you still get to interact with people! These are also good jobs to get if you don't have prior experience because they're usually happy to teach on the job :) (and as long as you're not an absolute derp you should find them easy to adapt to).

Personally, the odd jobs I've taken on have included: fast food, retail and lab technician. I'm currently working as a tutor for high school students. I've literally been studying for my entire life so these have all been part time/casual jobs for me.

Good luck on the job hunt!

i definitely suggest doing pca work. i do pca work and have for quite a few years, since about 2009, so almost 10 years. it's definitely fulfilling and its a new experience every day. plus, generally, you can pick who you work with and the hours you would like to work.

if you are interested in retail (i know you said you aren't, but just incase!) both home depot and menards offer good benefits and incentives to work there. home depot has tuition reimbursement and menards has extra money on the weekends. both start at decent pay for retail jobs and have room for growth.

Thanks :) my experience is mostly rooted in retial and the small branched of it. Like online sales or working a service desk. I was recently told to check into schools for jobs aside from teaching, so I'm giving that a look.

Thanks for the reply! What is pca work?

you are welcome! and pca work is generally dealing with elderly clients or younger adults/kids with special needs. you do cleaning, housework, cooking, etc and run errands for them. :)

Whenever ive looked for a job, ive always checked craigslist. Gotten some good, interesting ones, few of which were what I was looking for but worked out for the time being. Just apply to any you feel qualified for, or want to learn, especially if they say they're willing to train the right person.

I worked at a garden shop for a summer and i miss that job. It was a great experience and I'd do it again if my bills hadnt multiplied in the past couple years.

Depending on where you live, you could probably work as a janitor or something at a zoo! I do that and it's more looking at animals than actually cleaning

I don't know where you live but I always suggest Disney in Orlando Florida. I moved from Washington State to Florida for a job at Disney and it was worth it the jobs are awesome but you do work a lot in the beginning once you get seniority its no biggy. Also if you don't like what your doing you can switch to something else within the company and the benefits are amazing! The only down side is yea you gotta live near Disney so that sucks, and the hours can be crappy some times , but if you like Disney you get in for free and you also can get your family in and discounts so its nice, and if your a hard worker you can move up in the company vary easily and if you retire with them you get tickets for life! I say Orlando Disney because its easier to live here than in California with they pay you get starting out. Also as you can tell I am a bit bias since I use to work for Disney but they are always hiring and also if your the hard working type if you work extra you get paid extra for the trouble.
