There's someone I see in the background that's got a really awesome masquerade costume, I want to pink-heart them.

But they don't seem to be in any of the dancing threads I have looked through. Will they always remain a mysterious stranger?

You can right-click on the background dancers to open their HA in a new tab. Their user ID will be in the URL. Then use your chosen method to find users by their ID. If you're after the third person on the right, you have to click a bit past their HA to do this.
