Yeah, I need to vent. There's just so much stupid in this world, and a lot of it seems to be centered at my workplace.
First off, there's the paper delivery person, who is not really a coworker per say, but leads into my next rant so I'm posting it too. This genius pulls up under the portico, in front of our front door, and heaves the stacks of papers in plastic bags out of his car window and drives off. I know because my coworkers saw him do it multiple times. Lots of times the bags split open, or fall into the drive, or get blown around. It's relatively fine when the weather is nice, but seriously, would it kill you to get your lazy ass out of the car and set them neatly on the chairs or tables that are right there in the front? Under cover? Or maybe he could at least put them all in one giant trash bag and set that by the door so I have only a single thing to pick up instead of papers everyfuckingwhere. I don't mind as much in decent weather, but when it's snowing/raining/hailing/windy as it tends to be a lot in Michigan, his lazy ass needs to get up out of his crappy car and set them at least in front of the doors so they don't get ruined by the weather.
That brings us to my second rant. My coworkers, many of whom get here earlier than I do, seem to be unable to bend down, pick up the papers, and carry them 10-12 feet through the doors to plop them on the front desk. Seriously. Not hard. Not rocket science. Bend, pick up, drop. SUPER EASY. But for the half dozen or so people who come in before me, it's apparently waaaay too difficult. So every morning, I'm left to pick them up, sometimes wet and gross, and carry them in myself. On Thursdays and Sundays, the papers are larger when then ads are in, and there's more of them, so it's even worse and they're in separate bags and spread all over the damn place.
Under the front desk, which is shared between four of us on different shifts, is a power strip with seven different outlets on it. Only ONE of them is in use right now, for a fan, because the fan's cord isn't long enough to reach to a regular outlet. It's fine, it's out of the way, it doesn't bother anything. And yet, every damn time I come in and try to turn on the fan, it's fucking unplugged. Why the ever-loving hell anyone would unplug it is beyond me. There are six other perfectly good places to plug your shit in. Leave my goddamn fan alone!
There's so much more, but I'm going off to do my quests and hopefully be less angry and ranty...
Oh no :( sounds like you’re working with a bunch of children. No - scratch that, even kids know to clean up when there’s a mess...
I’m sorry you’re experiencing so many annoying things at work right now. Is it going to be like this forever? Will you eventually move on from this job or get to work with other people?
Your frustration is completely warranted and I’m glad you’ve been able to vent. :) hope it was cathartic for you!
Eventually, I will get a different job. I hope. Somewhere I can work with adults. It's strange though, because I generally like my coworkers...they just don't think like I do - to do extra things beyond one's job duties if you see something that needs doing. Like when I got here a couple minutes early this morning and the break room was a mess (that's where our time clock is) so I cleaned it up a bit while I waited to clock in. No big deal. But it seems like my cohorts here wouldn't even think to do that.
That sucks. Do you think they'd be amenable to change if you said something? Or would it just blow up in your face and they'd instantly dislike you? Oh well, even if they'll never change you can always come here and vent ^_^
Happy to lend a venting ear. :P
Is the mail for specific people? or just to to the company in general? If only some of the mail was yours, i'd only pick up the ones that are addressed to you. and if it's not your responsibility (directly) than I just wouldn't pick them up. It would be different if you weren't the only one doing it but it seems like these people are happy to take advantage of the fact you'll pick it up for them. Also maybe I'm an A word but i'd check the license plate of the mail truck and call the company to let them know.
My complaint is that my boss almost never pays me on time, I've waited a week and a half just to avoid confrontation and it seems like she wont pay me unless i ask for it directly. most of the time it's a week late. I asked her if we could work out a more regular schedule (every other Monday) she acted like she was on board (she was being really friendly) and then the next week is i didn't get it till Friday. It's not a normally a huge deal, but sometimes after rent I've completely run out of money and not had groceries on the days the check was late. I guess i just need to get a new job but the idea of searching for jobs is so discouraging, especially as a shy eye contact avoiding person. nobody wants to hire someone that cant look them in the eyes for more than 5 seconds. i got this job through DVR, I've never even gotten a job on my own and the lady that runs the local dvr is a scary witch lady who said mean things about my mom. who is an ANGEL by the way shout out to my mom. okay sorry
