Hello everyone! My name is Mel, and I'm a newbie - just signed up last night. I wanted to find an alternative to Neopets that wasn't Marapets. One big issue I have with most pet sites is that it can be pretty difficult to make money if you don't have the reflexes to restock, but that's not an issue I've had here so far. I'm also really fond of the avatar customization.
Some personal info about me: I'm a college student working on a bachelor's in web development. Right now I'm going to a community college, but once I have my associate's I'm going to transfer to a state university. In my free time, I like to play video games (Pokémon and Fallout are my all-time favorites) and listen to music. My top five bands/artists would be Awolnation, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Glass Animals, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Beastie Boys. I tend to favor rock and rap, particularly alt/electronic rock, but I like a little bit of everything really. I also really love going to concerts.
I don't normally like to participate in forums and such, but since the Blue Building requires 100 forum posts, here I am I suppose! :)

Welcome to Subeta, Mel! 😀
Glad to hear you like the avatar customization! It's one of my favorite features of Subeta. I love playing around with different clothes and layers in the Wardrobe. 😊 And yeah, making sP here is pretty easy! It's not stressful like it is on some other sites.
Ooohh, I love Pokemon games, too! 😀 I haven't kept up well with them in recent years, but I still love playing even the first generation games when I have time. My current in-progress games are Pokemon Black/White and Y (trying to catch up!)...but I'm making VERY slow progress in them, lol. 😅 How about you?
Oh! If you're looking to increase your post count, a really good forum to do it in (without spamming) is the Chit-Chat forum. I especially like posting in the User Run Games. Most of the games are very simple, so you can easily up your post count by participating in them.
Thank you! Glad to be here. :D I love your avatar's customization!
Pokémon is something I've adored since I was a kiddo, so I've played most of the main series games, but I've never been able to finish a first generation game and I'm currently struggling to make it through Ultra Sun. Black/White are some of my favorites in the series tbh! Team Plasma was a really great villainous team.
I've been working on the post count. The current masquerade event is making it pretty easy, thanks to all of those "dance with the person above you" threads, haha. I posted in some other threads earlier, but I ended up bumping one that was like over a month old, so I'm... still embarrassed about that oops. :S
One thing that's really been blowing my mind is how incredibly nice the community has been. People keep sending me really cute gifts and two people even sent me potions (and if any anonymous gift givers are reading this, thank you all so much :D) This is such a lovely little site!

Thank you! 😊 And your avatar looks very lovely and perfect for Masquerade! Glad to hear you've joined in the dancing escapades! 😀 Lol, yeah, those dancing threads are like gold mines for posting. You'll reach your post count goal in no time! (Aww, no need to feel embarrassed about bumping an old thread though! It happens. It's actually really easy to miss because in some forums, there will be a new thread made only a few days ago, but then the one right below it is like several weeks old. 😮 So yeah, it's understandable.)
Ooohh, yeah, I really like Black/White! More so than Y, lol. I don't have Ultra Sun or Moon, but I know there was a lot of hype surrounding their release. Is the game play difficult, or something about the plot...?
Yeah, the Subeta community is just wonderful! 😊 That's another thing that I love about the site. No matter what, you'll always find nice people who are happy to welcome you with open arms, chat and be friends with you, and help you. 😀
Ooohh, if I may, there's actually this lovely thread where a lot of people post thank yous to their anonymous gifters. (I also post there whenever I receive an anonymous gift.) Of course, you're not obligated to post in there, but you're more than free and welcome to do so! And maybe your anonymous gifters will see your post. 😊
Aw, thank you! It's mostly stuff I got from anonymous gifters. Speaking of which, thank you for the link to that thread for thanking anonymous gifters! I felt kinda guilty not doing something to acknowledge all the kindness going around, and since they were anonymous I couldn't exactly message them, haha.
IMO X and Y are good games on their own, but they definitely feel dumbed down when compared to the games from Gen 4 and 5. I was really let down by how generic the villainous team was. Same with the character writing. I know it's a kid's game, so the relaxed difficulty I didn't mind, but the whole game just felt kind of rushed to me.
The hype around Sun and Moon was definitely because of the plot. The difficulty is pretty close to X/Y, but S/M had a really touching plot and it was really unexpected. They're absolutely worth playing if you get the opportunity.
Back on the subject of Subeta though, I'm really enjoying how relaxed the atmosphere is. I'm still learning all sorts of new stuff, but it's really not as overwhelming as I was expecting it to be. Although today I did take the plunge and got my first fancy pet (a nostalgic feli), so figuring out how to do that was kind of a mess. Thank goodness for the wikia, however outdated it may be.

Ohhhh, I see. I haven't progressed very far into Y yet, so I have no idea otherwise, lol. I'll keep that in mind as I continue to play it though. 😅
Really? That's good to hear then! 😀 I'll definitely consider getting Sun/Moon then. One of my friends is a huge fan of the games; I think she reserved her copy (I can't remember whether it was Sun or Moon that she got) in advance, and then when she got it, she made a long post on her Facebook page saying how she was so excited to play it, lol.
Oh yeah, things are pretty chill here. 😊 ...well, maybe not so much when it comes to Masquerade, lol. There are loads of events and contests going on right now, and I'm running around and dancing like crazy to do the ones I want! 😆 Are you participating in any of the events (for prizes), or just dancing on the dancing threads?
I've just been dancing. If there are any special events going on right now aside from the dancing, I haven't encountered any... although I guess I haven't really been looking, haha. I've really only been doing that, messing around on the wardrobe, or daily quests. :P
I originally wasn't gonna get Sun/Moon, but eventually I did 'cuz a friend of mine kept telling me to play it. He beat it in three days, which honestly convinced me it was worth it 'cuz he's the kind of person who takes months and months to beat a Pokémon game (so am I tho). Probably my second favorite Pokémon game, after B2/W2. What about you - do you have a favorite Pokémon game? :o

welcome to subeta! its true, every other site seems to have terrible economy. gets annoying when youre trying to start playing and every user item costs 500mil coins but the site only regurgitates 400 coins a day
<( )
Thank you :) Yeah for real, this is like the first pet site I've ever played on where I felt like I had a chance to actually get all my dream pets lol. It's refreshing tbh.
[sub](Btw I love your Mr Saturn. Earthbound was such a good game ugh)[/sub]

thank you! i have so much nostalgic love for mr saturn. hopefully i get their profile up soon :)
<( )
Aw, thank you so much! Yours is gorgeous, I love the makeup :)

Ah, I see. Nice! The daily quests are always good to do--and I totally get you about the wardrobe; I like messing around with wearables, too. 😆
Whoa, 3 days?! 😮 Sounds amazing! Okay, I'm definitely going to get it sometime. 😀 I'm kind of old-school with the games (probably because I haven't played all of them; I don't know in-depth about many of the newer games), so I really like first generation (Red/Blue) and second generation (Gold/Silver). My Red/Blue games still work even to this day, so sometimes I re-play them, lol. But my Silver broke a couple years ago--the game data doesn't save at all. I'm still bummed about it. 😢
Ugh I'm a total wardrobe addict; I think I've only got a hundred or so items in mine rn but just making little dream outfits is fun. Games with lots of avatar customization options are a blessing and a curse because it's a great feature but I always end up spending more time on my avatar than playing the actual game :P
Yeah, I get you. I grew up on the generation 3 games (Fire Red and Emerald), so those are the games I always end up replaying for nostalgia value. The first two gens were really fun too! I just never had a copy of RBY long enough to beat, although I did recently get Yellow on the virtual console so I've been playing that. It's really sad when games break though, I'm sorry about your Silver :(

Lol, well, the avatars are a really major feature of the game--so you can see it as playing the game all the same. 😉
Oooohhh, nice! I never had Yellow myself (I only have Red and Blue of first gen), but my sister did--and she loved having Pikachu follow her around, lol. She wouldn't let me play it back then because it was her game, so only she could play it. 😆 But I haven't asked her about me playing it since then; maybe she'd let me try it out now, haha.
Yeah...but maybe I can find a used copy of it somewhere. Or maybe try to get the SoulSilver remake instead.
Haha, fair point!
Pikachu following you around was an absolutely adorable feature in Yellow! I'm really glad they brought it back, even if it was just for HGSS.
Copies of the older games can be really hard to find :S I don't think I've ever seen GSC cartridges for sale at the used game stores I frequent, although I've seen copies of Red and Blue there. They do have Gold and Silver on Virtual Console now for $10 though, but the experience just isn't the same :/
SoulSilver's a great game, but for some reason it's harder to get a hold of than Silver. $50 is usually like the minimum pricetag, and ones that include a PokéWalker go for like $100. It's nuts :O

Aww, shucks...okay, maybe I'll have to give up on that option then. 😢 Oh, I didn't know it was available on Virtual Console! 😮 Hmm, I could consider it then if I'm dying to play it again, even if it's not the same. ><
Whoa! 😮 That is WAY more expensive than I would've expected. Okay, maybe not then, lol.
Well, you could probably find it online for a reasonable enough price (although there is a slim chance of obtaining a flashcart instead of an original gameboy cartridge, but it's a lot less likely with GB/GBC games than it is with DS games due to the cost of the flashcart.) Plus you never know what you'll find at used game stores, so it's worth looking around if it's a game you'd like to replay :)
The Gen 4 games have inflated a lot. It's really strange... I guess there's a lot of demand for them, haha. They were really great games though, so I suppose it makes sense. Maybe one day Nintendo will put them on the eShop like they've done with the first two Gens :o
I'm really sorry that this whole convo has just turned into me geeking out and info dumping about Pokémon, haha! I'm really bad about going off on tangents, oops. Do you play any other games? Lately I've been playing a lot of the Roller Coaster Tycoon series, and Civilization 5.

I am late to the party but welcome to Subeta! :D
Saw you like Fallout? Me too even though the bloodbugs in Fallout 4 give me a hard time not to freak out irl - they are so gross and scary and wrong. X'D
I also fully support your taste in music, haha just wanted to add that.
Thank you! :D
Yeah, I love Fallout! I hate the insects with a burning passion tho (especially the noises they make). Bloodbugs really suck, especially when they start swarming :S
Also thanks! It was hard to pick just 5 bands, but I felt like if I listed off any more I'd end up just rambling about my favorite music :P
