World Poetry Day
Held every year on 21 March, World Poetry Day celebrates one of humanity’s most treasured forms of cultural and linguistic expression and identity. Practiced throughout history – in every culture and on every continent – poetry speaks to our common humanity and our shared values, transforming the simplest of poems into a powerful catalyst for dialogue and peace.
UNESCO first adopted 21 March as World Poetry Day in 1999, with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression.
World Poetry Day is the occasion to honor poets, revive oral traditions of poetry recitals, promote the reading, writing and teaching of poetry and foster the convergence between poetry and other arts such as theatre, dance, music and painting.
Poetry Challenge
Write a short (or long, if you prefer!) poem about anything which leaps in your mind. It doesn´t have to rhyme, you are allowed to use all kind of ideas like haikus or free verses. Post an additional book-related HA together with your creation if you feel up to it. Every poetry entry gets a raffle ticket, an additional HA design nets you a second ticket.

I Waited So Long
Delicate petals touch the surface the pond leans back, to receive their embrace the flowers lay on the glassy water the weeping sound of the fluttering leaves
As I breathe in the scent the spring enchanted in the dance of the branches in the living hearts of trees In the cry of the lonely birds on the clear sky
The cup is filled with renewed force as the cape of the snow gives place to the moss and grass I close my eyes and fill myself up with the rich scent of soil
I waited so long...

Wow I haven't done poetry in YEARS o.o well here it goes....
Butterfly Meadow:
Flutter by Butterfly With rainbow wing Such a beautiful thing
Flower to flower You fly around With nary a sound
All around The meadow you go Putting on a pretty show
What type you are? I do not know So I sit and watch your show
Thylacine
Faint stripes on my screen, stiff tail— You move through the brush in a blur Oblivious to those who watch and wait Who wonder: is it you at last?
We do not want to believe you are gone Even if we never lived near your home, Even if no-one can prove you were there On the day we were born— We still feel your blood on our hands And we mourn.
Are you there? Do you watch us from within the dreaming world? No-one could blame you for hiding, No-one could blame you for running, For blurring the air around you And hiding yourself in the brush, Living on in the hearts of the many who hope And the vanishing few who remember.
Come back. If you will. We’ll be better this time. We’ll do all we can to deserve you If you will just show yourself, breathing. I am afraid that I will die, not ever having seen your face Except in pictures taken before I was born And at night, when I dream.

I haven't written any poetry in a long time. It's a try... needs more work though. And I found a book outfit to go with it :D

Draw in salt
the ward around yourself
So far and no further.
Limn the limits
Where they will be safe.
Light the candles
At each point of the figure you've drawn.
The wax, dripping, Drowns the light Gathering darkness close.
A Rose in Frost
A rose in bloom, a delicate floret, Bright in both color and form, It's delicate blush holds in a secret, A story both gentle and warm,
But winter's grip, harsh and cold, On blossom grimly falling, A glitter of frost, crisp and bold, It's pageantry strangely enthralling,
Beauty and beauty war it out, Warmth fighting against cold ice, Soft entrancement larks about, Against winter's glamour and spice,
For summer's loss, is winter's gain, And beauty is nature's smooth refrain.
A gentle sonnet inspired by my first view of our new garden last fall, when we moved in. :P There was one lovely rose left on a rose bush, but covered in snow and frost.
Private Outfit
And here is the author, book in hand for inspiration, paper and quill for writing, and comfortable, seasonally appropriate clothes, that are also still pretty... And messy hair, because she's been concentrating. :P

This is one of my favourites - I wrote it a few years ago. Sadly I don't think I have time for an HA. :C
I live in a world of sunshine and flowers Of scratches and burns and headaches and bites I waste my days dreaming of screaming for hours While lying in bed from the flu and the lice
All manner of matter quite vile decide To delve into crasser and deeper delights Alighting upon my most violent insides They crawl slickly into the holes nibbled by flies
The craters of slaters and hot steaming skin The blistering vapours and sundering din Such parched raucous noise as a voice can begin To form when a troublesome sickness takes whim- Sical notions of freedom within
This voice cannot bury the pain, nor the haze Of the fickle diseases that trickle in waves Draw close to the heart of the meddlesome maze Of the body's once pure system of grace
Invaders ever unrelenting Consequences never-ending Failed hope for quick, swift mending All losses kept from comprehending
Mind over matter, body and soul What matter is there when there's no soul at all? The whole is not wholesome, forsaken and cold Took over by insects and riddled with holes.
We are compromised, dear comrades We may never speak again When all is black, we must drive them back Or ever let them win.
