hey all! my name's cicada, i use they/them pronouns. i started playing subeta a few years ago, but i dropped off the face of the earth and never made a forum post. i'm back now though, and i'm remembering how much i really did love this site, so i think i'll stick around a bit! it helps fill the neopet-shaped hole in my heart from when that site went downhill.
i'm an artist, creature designer, and aspiring game dev, so i might make a few posts about my projects later. and maybe start some art games and threads? who knows! i really love cryptids, world folklore, worldbuilding, 3d printing, plants, and bugs. feel free to chat with me about any of them.
speaking of bugs, i noticed that there's a pet called the zasaba now (i LOVE them)! are those new(ish), or did i just overlook them the first time i was here? is there a timeline of what pets were introduced when so i can catch up? a holiday guide would be awesome too, i'd love to know what's coming up!
RubidiumWait, so you're also mainly an artist? What a coincidence! And Cryptids are a really interesting topic, too, even though I don't know more about it than an occassional Wikipedia-Binge~
Hey! Welcome to Subeta! 😀
Lol, I was kind of in the same boat: I started playing Subeta years ago, but then I lost interest as college and other real-life things kept me occupied. A few months ago, I came back and re-found my love for the site--and now I log on every day!
Whoaaaaa, you're super talented! 😮 Yeah, if you're interested, you should definitely start an art thread! The Subeta community is rich with artists; a lot of people here (including me!) really appreciate all the artists sharing their amazing artwork with everyone. 😊
The Zasaba is relatively new (compared to how long the site has been around). I found the news post about when it was first introduced: https://subeta.net/news/16457. I don't know about a timeline for when pets were introduced to the site, but you can check out the Subetapedia for more information on (most) pets as well as holidays: https://subeta.net/subetapedia/
hey hey!! I'd love to see some of your art sometime, what kind of art do you do? i'm mostly a digital painter but i do a lot of sketch work too, plus dabbling here and there! wikipedia binges are definitely part of what got me into them, plus i had these weird trading card kind of things when i was little
welcome back to you too, then! i'll be sure to make an art thread soon, i've been sketching a bunch of pets over the past few days now that i'm back on subeta, haha! thanks for the info, the zasaba was definitely only introduced after i left, so that's good to know! and thanks for the holiday guide too ^^
RubidiumYou're welcome! & I see you showing your love of bugs with your human avatar. Pretty cool! 😀 Do you have any favorite bugs? I'm not really a bug person (mainly because I don't know much about bugs; I often feel scared about whether or not being bitten/stung by one that I don't really know about is particularly dangerous or life-threatening), but there are a few that I quite like, such as butterflies and beetles. 😁
Welcome back to Subeta! Look forwards to seeing your art/work :D We have a great creative community so hope you like it ^___^

that's fair!! i absolutely understand why so many people are afraid of/don't like them, it honestly took me a while to get over my own fear of bugs (spiders especially, but i love them now). it's hard for me to pick a solid favorite, but i think bees, jumping spiders, and orchid mantises are all up there!
thank you so much!
RubidiumOoohh, mantises are cool! I quite like them, too--they don't scare me, lol. 😆 I think jumping spiders are also pretty neat. (Actually, I think spiders in general are really cool, even though some of them might scare me, lol.) Bees...terrify me. I've never been stung by one, so I'm not sure if I'd experience an allergic reaction if I got stung by one. 😰
