The picture maps look wonderful, but the lack of easily being able to spot where things are, and what they are, is a huge problem.
Users should not be directed to 'Google' site locations to find them. Users should not have to tab endlessly to try and find a location that may of moved. -Also that is not an option for those on tablets or phone.
I'd love to go back to the previous versions of having text links under the site maps for everyone's convenience. There could also be an option to remove the world images and choose to only see text maps or a site wide page glossary like there is with the NPC shops so that all locations are listed out and easily found.

I would love an index page where everything is listed.

it would help accessibility, maybe it would be toggle-able in the dashboard if other folk don't want to have it.
I support this- I've been on this site for years, and still forget the locations of certain things. I typically try to click on locations where I think it might be located, and sometimes I'm successful, while other times, I'm not. Then, I resort to Google, or Subetalodge (which often has the link in the item notes (for genetech items, for example)).
Having a central location index would be great. Especially for people who might not know which lands things are located in. For the specific location pages, I would love if we had a text link list displayed below the map. That way, they don't have to edit the beautiful art in any way, just add the links below. When you hover over the links, it could potentially even light up the link location on the map image, to help people learn! Staff could add a toggle to the Dashboard to display, but honestly, if the text links are below the site maps, I don't see the need- it'll just make the page longer, but not disrupt anyone already navigating successfully.
:) This is actually something I'm working on. It'll be a list of things below the map, and scale for like if you're on mobile or something it won't be annoying to deal with. I've been toying around with having the map disappear all together on v small screens, so you'll just have the links (I might have lil item images next to them who KNOWS) so it'll be v easy to navigate.
Great to hear this is already being looked into!
It would definitely be helpful for mobile users or people who just can't remember or don't know exactly where everything is (or even old users who get confused or forget sometimes). :)
Agreed, but I would have thought that the alt text plus a screen reader would handle some of the accessibility issues? But that also demands a computer and not a mobile device.

That is such great news Amber! Thank you.
That would be an option hanzo but again it's just another work around like using tab and trying to read urls. Besides for those that don't naturally use screen readers it would just elongate the time that a clear link at the bottom would save.
The main issue is that by just looking at the images there is no real way to tell exactly what is there.
I know that I've been to several maps looking for something I thought was there only to have to give up and google the location. It gets frustrating.

I thought it used to be that when you hovered over a location on the maps with your cursor, it would highlight it and tell you what it was, but IDK if I'm remembering correctly or if that was discontinued with recent browser updates or something. I dunno.
But at least the text links are being worked on anyway, it would be helpful.
There is a site navigation sidebar widget.
The widget only takes the links listed in the dropdowns at the top of the page and puts them as links in the sidebar.
The OP was asking specifically about the links on the various land maps, which aren't included in that widget.
Hi! I've gotten most of the areas so far with text navigation below. I've checked and they don't look ridiculous on mobile.
Still gotta do: main explore, all the underground (lol the place we all need it the most am i right), bathhouse.
Thank you, Amber!!!
Very nice with the new links, especially the Centropolis map always overwhelmed me so it's nice to know where to easily find the place I want to go to. two thumbs up
Wow! This is great!
