Exactly what the title says: is there a way to view users who are currently online?

I don't think currently there is any way to tell who exactly is on the site right now. There is the number on the dashboard of users currently online, but I don't think there is a username list associated with it. For individual profiles you can sometimes see if someone is online now, or how long ago they were online, but this is a profile choice and not always available.

The best way I'd say to see currently active people is the shoutbox or forums.

Well, poop, that's unfortunate. I can see the number of users online (and I've even tried to click on it a few times, even though I know it's not a link). I think I'll still wait for a for-sure answer, but you're probably right :/

They did away with an online list a LOOONG time ago and as far as I know there are no intentions to add one. They even got rid of the item worth feature for your personal account telling you the highest costing items you had and top item stacks. It seems when a feature causes undue server strain it gets nixed.

I don't think it would ever come back, because it's a privacy issue... Lots of people don't necessarily want others to know for sure if they are online or not.... That's why there is the option to turn it off on your profile. And if they did have a link with the numbers, it would defeat that, or have a whole lot of "anonymous" listings...

Plus, if people could see who was online for sure, there'd be issues with people spamming everyone online with sales, and items they're looking for, and advertising events, and blah blah blah...
