I have a b/s/t thread in r200 advertising. I see other users able to ping the group # buysellcw (the space is on purpose so I don't ping them here) multiple times from their first post, but I can't figure out how to do so.

You can edit your post, the first/original one, by adding a space to the ping, edit, and then re-edit to add the space back, this second edit, will ping everyone. Conversely delete the initial ping, and retype it.
