In the art market as of right now, it's required for an artist to have at least one SP/CSC slot. However, I notice that a lot of artists are 'filling' that slot indefinitely (With a friend 'claiming' the slot, taking one commission then never considering it 'complete', or even worse, taking it and prioritizing all USD slots over it to the point that it takes ages to do the CSC/SP slot.)

This kind of feels like cheating the system.

I think this loophole should be brought to attention, and perhaps a revamp that an equal number of CSC and USD slots should be provided....

(I know I'm probably going to get some hate about this suggestion or people telling me that artists need money, which I understand, but this isn't really an art sale business site, there are other sites for that)

As someone who does take csc slots = usd slots in my art shop... I think this rule is fine the way it is.

If you have PROOF someone is cheating this rule, you should report them and let staff take care of it. However, this suggestion to me seems based around a lot of assumptions (I claim slots from my friends and they claim slots from me as well, and there is NO rule against friends claiming slots to get a product, but if you have proof that the artist and their friend are only doing this to avoid this rule, then that IS reportable!)

It's important to note that you're not entitled to someone's art just because you want it. You're also not entitled to someone's art for fake money just because you don't want to, or cannot make USD/etc payments.

I feel changing this rule will make a LOT of artists leave, because this rule is honestly outdated as it is. It basically feels a lot like saying "Real art is art you can touch" and therefore you have to accept 'fake money' for your 'fake art' which is IMHO a little old school lmao.

CSC is bought with real money though, and it would be nice to keep anonymity for a variety of reasons. You can't really do that with RL money.

I'm not entitled to anything, but it just seems odd that this isn't a site dedicated to selling RL goods/services, but art is somehow an exception.

Not all csc is bought with real money. Some csc is gotten onsite via the bathhouse daily / etc. And some people earn csc without spending real cash-- they bought it from someone else who did. Regardless, even if csc is purchased with real cash, it does NOT have the same value as real cash.

Art is an exception because it's a skill that is learned / made with means outside of Subeta. Subeta isn't teaching these artists the skills they're selling, and therefore it's not Subeta's place to throw a stake into claiming their earnings from it.

All other skills are learned/made outside of Subeta but only art is allowed... I can't sell my tutoring skills here, can I?

That argument aside, on the first page of the art forums right now, I see one that openly states they're not opening the CSC/SP slot for a while (despite the previous one being long finished) and another that openly says that CSC/SP customers are prioritized last. I've also encountered similar things in other threads. I don't know if this is against the rules, exactly, and this is the kind of stuff that I am asking to prevent against.

If you suspect a rule violation, or wish to clarify the rules, please file a ticket! That's the best way to get a rule clarification if you need it, and if someone is breaking the rules then you can help to bring it to staff's attention.

I can't answer about the tutoring skills! You'd need to file a ticket to ask staff if you're allowed to advertise that for USD here! This is a very art driven place, and art is in high demand here (pet spotlight, for example is really popular and requires art!), which is why it has rules and it's own market. I'm not sure how high of a demand tutoring would have here, especially because I'm no longer a student n_n But maybe! C:

Both situations you've described are up to staff to decide if they're violating rules, I think users would only create a witch hunt based on assumptions and not facts.

Obviously this is only my opinion, but I believe artists should be allowed to dictate how they spend their time and what they earn for their time. If they have no intention of ever really opening that csc slot and you have proof, like I've said, please report that so staff is aware because that is against the rules. If they just need a break because they don't have the time / need the money then that situation becomes very gray and is up to staff to decide if action is needed. I don't think staff should be policing each shop making sure each artist is doing an equal number of csc and usd slots though like you originally suggested because like I said, csc is not worth the same as usd and a lot of artists would definitely not have the time to constantly work for fake money, as sad and unfortunate as that is. CSC doesn't feed or put a roof over an artist's head.

(also no one please throw the 'this is a pet site, artists shouldn't be here to make a living!!!!111" tantrum because it's 2018 and I'm done with it, thanks lol)

Alright, thanks for the input, I will just file tickets if I suspect something that could be a violation. I suppose this thread could just be locked and the suggestion just disregarded since I feel like it might turn into an argument, which wasn't my intent (I just wished to address these types of cases)

Before your topic is closed, I wanted to say that I agree with you and am sad to see your suggestion not discussed further.

If you want to buy something on Subeta, you should be able to use Subeta's currency equally to real life currency.

hey, don't take it too hard how this topic went. Art payment can be a sensitive subject (and justifiably so) especially if someone who isn't an artist is talking about how artists should be paid. I know that wasn't really the point of your topic, but you'll want to be careful not to suggest something that may make it harder for artists to be rightfully paid what their work is worth. It's already somewhat difficult from what I know, just to be paid fairly for commissions at all.

That said - spirit of the law vs letter of the law. No matter how tight the rules are, I'm sure someone could find a loophole if they really wanted to, which is why it's best to just file a report if you see it rather than suggesting a rule change right off the bat.

I would say since it's a standard on many other sites to allow minimal or no site currency slots, I don't see why Subeta would want to go the opposite way and tighten the rule about site currency slots being available... that would make it less appealing for artists to even make an art shop here, and people already underpay here a little bit.

But artists are offering to make their art for people here. If they feel they are being underpaid, why can't they raise their prices or find another medium to sell their art? No one is being forced to make or sell their art here and no one is being forced to accept lower prices. That is the choice of the artist.

Everyone here is paying for pieces of art (items) every day with sP/CSC. I'm not saying that artists should be mandated to accept sP/CSC, but no one should alienate customers who prefer to pay that way when sP/CSC are acceptable forms of payment on Subeta.
