I want to make another list (HAHA) of any negative or difficult things from Survival, and compile it into a handy list for Staff to look for next year. If you want to add to the list, try to be a specific as possible, like we are writing our own thread/post on the Suggestions forum.
Preliminary List
Kissing
VIP & FAQ
Biting
Viruses and Strains
The wait time between being able to kiss or bite people can be unbearable at times, as well as the strain taking up to 16hrs just to get to the next stage. It is quite annoying when one is trying to plan out trying to get a finale virus and it turns out they can't because of the 16hrs. A suggestion would be to maybe max it out as a 6-8hr wait rather than the 16 on the last two days of the event. As for the buffering between kisses and bites, I really think the max of 9 min is a bit much since many are tying to complete the achievements and it makes it frustrating.
Incubating
they should let us do biting codes like we can do kiss
having to use url code all the time is taking up so much space and time
I agree with both suggestions above. I found it really frustrating with the wait times, especially trying to get the bite achievement towards the end and I kept ending up with 5 minute waiting times randomly because of bad luck.
[tot=Barghest] [egg=Barghest] [tp=Barghest] [flower=Barghest]
My main gripe: We need more room in forum signatures for all of our plushies :P
I would also love to be able to collect at least one more skin in one Survival. They keep releasing as many new skins as we can collect, which means we'll never be able to catch up on the ones that have already been released. Wait times are so long that we even need to earn one of those skins after Survival is over! I think reducing the time between stage progressions to (at most) 10-12 hours would be super helpful.
More strains in one year would also mean people could bite more! Staff can add more tiers to the Infection Specialist achievement to encourage more people to help us bite (and fulfill my desire to collect more achievements :P)!
100% down to discuss cooperation/coordination between the VIP and actual Infection Specialists. Don't know what we could actually do for each other, but surely there's something beyond "Thanks for your interest, go look in the forums?" for everyone involved...
❤️ Maybe a clinic we could check for bites (and skip the "thanks for your sP now go post in the forums" step?) ❤️ Maybe we could sign up for our strains, and when the VIP tells them to go to the forums it could suggest an on-line user to ping. ("Infection specialist @Avel is online now!") ❤️ Maybe the "bite" icon, or button, or even the "this user doesn't want your virus!" error could tell us what the hell they signed up for ❤️ Speaking of which, maybe the "No Biting!" could have a "Sign up here" link to the VIP instead of just a greyed-out Bite button.
[edit] Sorry, I guess in specific the opportunity I see is that the official information is either vague or confusing, and we see a steady stream of lost sheep with the same four questions because neither the News, nor the NPCs, nor the VIP advert actually tell anyone what's happening to their body HA, how the infection works, or where and how to participate and connect with other players.
The FAQ does need to be more prominent and include more answers. (as well as others) did a good job manning the FAQ thread, but I don't think it was enough.
I almost feel like people just kinda skipped the FAQ? We were at the top of the forum for most of the time, so maybe people felt we were more convenient.
Of course, there are the people who think they did it right, only to be told after that we can't do anything. But sometimes, I feel like people could have gone to the FAQ.
Yessss, good suggestions up here! Just some moooooore thoughts ~
I saved it but I can't post it. e.e
Not that I can see. It doesn't explicitly say that you can't be wearing a skin if you want bites.
Also, just thinking about it before class, but any one else think that the keywords at the VIP are useless for all years except for the newest one?
Like useless to describe the strain? I think it's because they don't want to give away the end-stages of the strains at the outbreak of the new infections, so they're deliberately obfuscated (or at least abstracted).
Like, they called it "Song" over Pylot, or Crow, or Raven, or Avian, or...
The strain names are okay & are better labels than numbering them. I still can't get over how 'dry' was voted to be 'love sucks,' but it's awesome that staff lets users choose the name, & something like 'jelly skelly' would take out more of the fun than 'dissolving' ...Or would it? Though it would be amusing if users just decided to keep a strain name the same as its...name.
At the very beginning, 'longevity' was the most curious name to me..but then I saw the naked mole rat & was smacked with Shin Sekai Yori vibes >.<
I think that it's fine for new strains to be described with something like "Song" but having "Powerful, Independent" when it's Carchari in the wardrobe, on the plushie, etc. doesn't seem necessary. It's not a secret anymore, you know?
And we've had a couple of people pick a different stain than they thought they did because they got the keywords wrong (I remember specifically that they got Foot Rash instead of Bindi Bite). Some strains are over 1,000,000 sP, which is a lot to lose because of a mistake. If you replace it with the keywords with the strain name, at least you know what you're looking for because you can look up the skin in the wardrobe and then just get the matching name at the VIP if you want it.
It's also weird that Subeta won't bother with making its own guide for the keywords. They just link to Subetalodge, which is fine, except that the VIP has keywords for 2014 strains and I can't find that at all on Subetalodge. had to give that information to me and I have no idea where she got it from.
I dunno, maybe I just care too much. :P
TLDR: this post isn't really adding anything new, just a lot of agreeing with ideas already thrown out there
I agree with so much of this. Especially a bite scode. In my notepad widget I keep scode links to do actions to my friend during events. This event she asked if I could bite her, and it would have been easier just to write the bite scode in my notepad, but no. :P
And I agree with Avel the descriptions of the older strains on the VIP page are indeed unnecessary at this point. Why does Lovebug need to referred to as romantic, flushed? Next year will be 10 years since that skin came out, it's not a secret anymore. Keep the descriptors of the new strains because they don't have names yet, sure. But the older ones have been named long ago. You'd think the NPC running the VIP would know that.
And in addition to that it would be great if it was included on someone's post what they signed up for. (Picture of arm) -Bite link- Lovebug
(Picture of arm) -Bite link- Random
something like that. So people who forget to add what they want, can have biters start on them immediately. I noticed lots of people would ping and provide no information, despite a lot of us biting for 10+ strains.
And when they are infected (Infected image) Infected Lovebug
so if they went the random route everyone will see what infection took.
And agreed that the infected notification should include what you've been infected with for the same reason. "Thank you for using the Volunteer Infection Program! You have been matched with an Infection Specialist, now you just need to sit back and enjoy the ride..." becomes "Thank you for using the Volunteer Infection Program! You have been matched with an Infection Specialist and infected with (virus name), now you just need to sit back and enjoy the ride..."
I glaze over the VIP page since I've been familiar with the mechanics since it was introduced, but once you sign up does it tell you that you need to go to the survival forum to ask for bites for a faster infection? Because I saw a few people confused and frustrated after 3 days of not asking for bites and wondering where their infection was. I felt bad for them.
Sorry this post has become so long. If/when this becomes a real suggestion thread I'll paste my bits of support there. :)
I really like the idea of re-naming the strains after the first year (or even straight-away after the user vote). You're right: once the skins are in the wardrobe, there's no reason to be mysterious about it - and that act officially legitimizes the user vote, let's not forget.
i don't know if that fits here since it is subetalodge but
um i don't know if it was like this during survival but i just looked at the 2009 viruses on subetalodge and..
also Foot Rash has a HA with hair on the second stage
and Boobitis (stage 2 and 5) and Virus (stage 1-5) have both HAs with a star on theyr cheek but that is not so obvious
just saw that lovebug on stage 3 has also a star on the cheek
the stars don't really bother but the hair and mouse wearable definitly do
if anyone can do anything to fix this please do
The previews are on the individual vial pages. Ex: Bulbous Vial
