So I adopted Shadow Hex from the adoption center not too long ago. When I go to battle an opponent in the battle coliseum, my pet Shadow Hex isnt in my selection of pets to battle.

I came back from a long hiatus so I may not be realizing something that's so obvious.

Pets adopted from the adoption center can't be battled with for 30 days. This was implemented to stop people sharing battle pets. You'll just have to wait a little. c: Until then you should be able to battle with your other pets though!

Alsoplease know there is a drop menu when you go to battle and it breaks down reasons a pet might not battle. Hungry, recently transferred, unhappy etc etc

It's not uncommon for someone to get a pet transferred to them then decide a week or so later to abandon it. If your pet is showing on recently transferred that is likely what happened. As far as I'm aware in general there is no wait time to battle with a pounded pet. However a loss of stats above 1k applies to both transferred and pounded pets.
