I don't like this one.
IMO this is not a Graveyard-colored pet. It is not nearly decayed destroyed or missing parts like I expect a Graveyard colored pet to have, and on first glance it's a very pretty Marsh or a subdued Glade. It's like I had to tell myself no this really is a graveyard pet and then look and play Where's Waldo to see the things that the artist has done.
To some degree to start with the Zasaba is very busy, so sometimes a subtle detail is not immediately apparent. Maybe other users who like graveyard better than I will like it? With a mantis-like pet one of the special pose colors should have a missing head, because of the way that the RL referent critter does behave, and it's disappointing that it's not this one.
I like that it's different from the other graveyard pets, not every pet has to follow the same decaying theme (to the extend of well decay or general falling apart)... perhaps this one isn't quite as dead as other graveyard pets? Yes sure they could have done more with it but I think it looks alright. I do love the colors they chose for it personally... but then again I'm a fan of very weird shades of certain colors.
My God, Solsticesprite, that is a fantastic idea. If it was exactly the same as it now, just minus the head, I would get one in a heartbeat.
I like it. I think a lot of graveyard pets have a story (roadkill Teracoon, cooked Mallarchy, stuffing Dilema). This is one about how people pull of the limbs of bugs. I can see what you're saying in the details are subtle.
Also, bugs don't have bones or flesh, they kind of just dry up, so they're also limited in what they could do.
I like how the Graveyard Zasaba looks. It may not be as gory as other pets but it is difficult to portray a dead invertebrate than animals with vertebrates when they don't have flesh and bones. Also, there are a handful of Graveyard pets that aren't as gory as the others:
examples here

I remembered the demi had some complaints about the lack of gore as well as being very well adored. Not all dead things have to look as if they've been rotting for years, disembowelled or hit by a car as most deaths aren't like that. Most of these examples look close to frankenstein's creation/science experiments which is nice to see.
As the zasaba is one of the few pets with a busy design, features like cordyceps would really overwhelm the look. Although the headless effect could work, it would take away one of the zasaba's key features (and I love how expressive its face is), same with the wing shield if that was removed. If its head was dangling a bit but not completely severed that could work but I feel the zasaba looks fine.
It just feels like something is missing, like it's incomplete somehow. I know that's not very helpful because that's very vague, but I can't really pinpoint what's bothering me. I don't mind that's not as gory, the only way a bug could be 'gory' is if it was completely squished and you get the inner fluids.
But something is still missing.

Some of those less gory pets are my favorite pets with the graveyard color! I might even get a graveyard kanis for myself.... I personally don't mind this graveyard pet. If I didn't already have an angel zasaba, I might have considered getting this one.

I think the problem is from the upper body and to the head area, something is just not smooth there... this part is kinda looks like the old art of Subeta..
But overall I like the concept, the colors, I might get one for myself..
I actually really like the Graveyard Zasaba and am considering getting one, which is really saying something since I don't usually like Zasabas! I'm really happy that the artist didn't go with the super decayed gore-y route; while I know this is all a matter of personal tastes, and some folks will never be happy with the lack of detail, it's actually the fact that it ISN'T super detailed that draws me in. I feel like anything else would've cluttered it up too much, honestly.
Whoever the artist was, I think they did a fabulous job! n__n
