Hi! I was just curious if anyone knows "how" to create item previews for items that aren't quite on the site yet? I see some users doing them with a preview of the item but the whole avatar has other items to "show" what it might look like....I mean I know we get the item preview from our artist....but its basically nekkie besides the one item LOL! I'd really LOVE to be able to learn how to add my not yet on site item with some already on site items to show how my items can be customized......

Is it difficult? Or am I SOL and I need an artist or someone else to do this for me each time? If so, any suggestions? Willing to pay someone to create them for me...though I'd love love to learn how to do it myself LOL :)

I use a free download, gimp 2.

You need to save a naked base plus all the items you need to make your HA, or you can make an HA in your wardrobe and upload it into gimp as layering and add in your new item, save, then upload to like imgur or another image hosting site.

ohh thank you so much! I was hoping it was something I might be able to do on my own but I couldn't figure out how everyone was doing it....thank you so much! Going to give this gimp 2 a try.....glad its not photoshop LOL!

Okay downloaded it and holy crap that looks complicated LOL! I have a female avatar that's pretty big....but the preview (with my item not on site yet) is smaller and I have no clue how to match the sizes for each/layer them on top of one another LOL!

so what I do is, I make my HA in the wardrobe, and save it to my outfits. I then also save it to my computer. When you upload it into gimp2, make sure you open it up as layers.

Then add in your CW that you want to show. Export and save it. Upload that image to imgur or whichever hosting site you like, and use that code to show your CW

Tried and that's not working for me...I feel like I'm missing a step. I click and open gimp and click "open in layers". After that I upload my first HA (the one that has most of the clothing I want, minus the item I want to show). It shows up...then I click on open in layers again...upload the item I want to show...then it shows just the HA of the item I want to show (so the outfit one I saved is no where on there) and I don't see it anywhere else.....I managed to open both images as layers...but its just showing me the top image (the item I want to share, not quite blended with the outfit I've saved) LOL! Is there a way to "merge" the layers together so it shows the new item?

Because if I click export with just the item I want to show (though I'm sure the other one is in there cause it says 2 layers) it doesn't give me the options for exporting like your 2nd image.... I do see a PNG I can export as (with a bunch of other types) but then its just showing me my desktop/things on there and not the actual two images I have open...LOL! Sorry for all the questions....this is literally chinese for me so I really appreciate you trying to help <3

just use the .png file (the one you use to upload to subeta) that should fix the problem you are having. You don't need the new cw on a base, just the image itself. (the file the artist gave you)

okay I saved the two layers (could only see the one) but I exported as a .png file and it overwrote everything else. So it overwrote the avatar I had saved with most of the clothes with the new image I wanted to show...I'm having problems getting the layers to "blend" Like I can upload both layers but getting the two layers to overlap each other so I can see what they look like together is the main problem I'm having LOL :) I'll have to resave the one from my wardrobe now as it just saved the tights I was trying to preview...man I feel like an idiot =/

Give me a few and I will upload some more pics for you. I might not be explaining it very well. I will show you with one of my items and see if that helps explain it a bit better.

I'm sure its not you...I'm just not too good with gimp or photoshop LOL! So the fault is probably purely all on me <3 If it helps I'm doing new "tights" I have an image from my saved outfits showing most of the items I wanted to use with the new "tights" so one item is the saved image from Subeta, and the 2nd image is the tights preview my artist gave me and I'm just having trouble figuring out how to mesh them together....If I can figure that out I'd be set I think LOL! Really appreciate you taking the time to help me <3 I always like the previews with items "with" other items too cause then you can see how versatile an item is etc so I'd love to be able to do that for my own too LOL

ok hopefully this will help out a bit...it is tricky and takes some time to learn. I am still learning myself.

My made HA in the subeta wardrobe and saved into my outfits. I then take that image and save it to my computer.

My .png file is next

find your file

Make sure the file is listed on the layers brushes popout that it is above your HA image

I always put the new cw on last and make sure it is on the top layer.

okay I think I'm missing something...I don't have the Layer-brushes you have? So mine just drops the image on top of the other one like this:

see if you have those all checked/unchecked, those are my settings

otherwise, I have no idea where the setting is for that part, but I think that is all that you are missing and that might fix your problem with the layering. hopefully

those are all checked for me too LOL! Man this layering stuff is crazy....I know once I figure it out it should be simple...but getting to the simple part is insane LOL! Thanks for trying to help me anyways <3 much appreciated!

aww don't feel bad...I'm not tech savvy either (probably why I'm like huh?) LOL! I'd totally love to learn how to do it myself...I might have to spend like 10 hours on tutorials or something for gimp to see if I can't figure it out haha! cringe And thank you so much for the offer to put some images together! <3 I might take you up on that, once I can take this ugly skin off ROFL! I had an image saved I wanted to use, but I had a different pair of tights on...now I can't take the tights off/save without saving the hideous version of myself LOL

new ping hopefully.....I managed to find the layers button again....but what step do you take to "blend" the two images?

Here's what I have:

I find if I change the opacity on the tights image it starts to blend a bit with the bottom image...though both are still white/note clear so I feel like there's a way to blend them somehow?
