I just found a journal that goes into detail on deviantart's current injustices. Seriously, this needs to be spread. Here's the link
I'm just...I can't believe deviantart is doing this. I'm ignorant, I don't know how to create a petition to reverse this. But I really feel like this needs a petition because GDI this is so not okay for deviantart users out of the country of US. Discussion is appreciated, though this doesn't really go under current events even though I don't think it belongs there... But I need to vent. Just...aaaaagh this is terrible.
Spread it. Spread this journal around. As a petition, as a tumblr post, Idk, just spread the word so that more people will be informed. I'm sorry if I sound too pushy but this is just wrong that deviantart is doing this. I've been oin deviantart for years and knew of some of the bad things they allow but this...this is a whole new low. I'm still staying but now I'm worried for other out of the US users. Who would be even next? ...I don't want to think about that.
If I'm understanding correctly, DeviantArt is preventing one country (Syria) from accessing its website due to sanctions by the U.S. government. I'd like to read more about the regulations that the customer service person linked to, but the author never included the link.
I feel for the people affected, it's not fair that they should be prevented from visiting websites due to the crimes of their government. But DeviantArt can be punished for not complying and I doubt that they have the same resources as the larger websites who disregard the sanctions. There's really nothing they can do.
