Is there any way of using the pet zapper without having to pay the 400k sps? I just want to zap my pet to see what she turns into, etc. Not wanting to go just for an experiment.

Yes, you just need to choose the pet you wish to zap from the dropdown menu and then click the "Zap this pet now" button underneath. Don't check the box for paying 400k unless you want to do that, and don't click on the adopt buttons underneath unless you want to adopt one of the special pets.
