Wizarding - A Harry Potter Group presents... The Seventh Term Winter Festival

The Harry Potter forum group Wizarding is having its Winter Festival and would like to invite non-members to join in the fun as well!

This is a week long roleplay, starting today February 3rd and ending on February 10th.

The Rules

1. Please adhere to all of Subeta's rules, including the Community Guidelines and the rules for the Roleplaying forum.
2. ANYONE is allowed to join the RP, whether they are a member of the group or not.
3. Original student characters only. Please note that the groups' continuity takes place a little more than 20 years after Harry defeats Voldemort, so please do not RP any of the characters from the series.
4. Please do not RP anyone other than your own student OC.

Any roleplay and chat activities associated with the Winter Festival are purely optional and will not count towards any House Points. House Points can be earned through the HA contest and Winter Festival Lightning Challenges. This is our thank you to the group for another great term. "Hello everyone," Professor Norman said, "hope you all are well. As you can see, this is charmed snow and ice, you can play with it and make as many figures as you want. Those who wish to, may also take your figure onto the frozen lake for a bit of ice dancing or skating. A simple charm can be added to your shoes if you wish to skate. It's really easy, just tap your shoes with your wand and say 'Iceus.' You all have fun now. If anyone needs help please feel free to ask."

„The Black Lake looks even more magical than on other days!“ Lysandra marvelled, hurrying over to the fenced area with the enchanted snow and ice. Obviously, pets aren´t allowed in there yet Frida was snuggling on her blanket in the warm dorm anyway. She didn´t like ice to touch her sensitive paws and always waited until Lys put some charmed anti-chill socks onto them.

Cautiously, Lysandra caressed the soft surface of a nearby ice block, feeling for the vibes radiating from it. „Dancing fairies, perhaps?“ she pondered „or circling ice swans?“ Curious, she turned around, scouting for creations of her classmates.

Mallowsweet trotted out to the to the fenced area to see the festive decorations. Kerran, her recently acquired kneazle looked around curiously from his favorite perch on her shoulders. Sure enough, there were her glowing wax moths flitting about. A beautiful oriental lantern floating in the air nearby whispered "You did good" in her ear. Startled the centaur looked around, blushing furiously.
Spotting Professor Norman she waved and headed his way. Moving a fragile looking ice sculpture away from her path, the charms professor cheerily asked how her wand practice was coming along, as he showed her the fresh piles of snow for sculpting.
Hoping to avoid talking about how little her wand work was improving, the centaur girl eagerly attempted to make a figure of her kneazle... Well, she tried.

Not much classmates had begun their magic creations yet Lysandra spotted a very cute cat-like creature in the snow, made by the nice girl who charmed the glowing wax moths some days ago. „Mallow, that´s a very sweet cat!“ Lys applauded, „I wish I would be that fast with enchanting snow! I think I am going to dabble with the ice yet I haven´t decided for a design……. Do you want to try out ice scuplting, too?"

"Thank you." Mallowsweet smiled. "Though I used my hands mostly. I tried to enchant the eyes to blink, but it either didn't work, or they're real slow. It's supposed to look like Kerran here" She scratched the kneazle on her shoulders behind one tall ear, eliciting a loud purr. "You transfigured those lovely lanterns didn't you? Is it my imagination or do they say nice things about people?"Outfit Not Found

"Ah yes, the lanterns are supposed to encourage. I love it to hear them whisper positive things! And oh, this cute kneazle of yours, so lovely!" Lysandra said, delighted, and held her hand out for him to nose it. "Frida is flash-freezed quickly" Lys told the centaur girl, "no way she would come out for longer with me!" With her boot, she circled a figurine into the snow, already pondering designs.

Zoe made her way over to the sculpting area which also had the ice skating and dancing. She's been particularly thrilled to wear one of her new dress robes. It was so elegant that she was very excited and thankful that the school helped her get it. She smiled at Mallowsweet () and Lysandra (). "Hello, ladies," she said.

Aria never had been one to enjoy snow or being cold. She sat all bundled up on a step leading to the outside snow covered world and watched everyone else enjoy the freezing white wet ice. "Honestly," she muttered under her breath while glancing over her shoulder towards the door leading back into Hogwarts, "you'd think they'd never heard of frostbite or hypothermia." A spontaneous shiver ran down her spine and she cuddled closer inwards, hugging herself tightly.

Lysandra marvelled at Zoe´s appearance. "That´s an utterly gorgeous dress!" she exclaimed, giving the newcomer a thorough once-over. "Where did you get it? And is there a dance later?". She turned her wardrobe over in her mind, no, there wasn´t a dress similar to that stunner.

The Scottish girl blushed. "Why thank ye. I got it from Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. She had a pop up booth in the Great Hall. Ye can go ice dancing," Zoe replied. "So I guess that counts as dancing."

"Oh, I missed that one! Is it still there?" Lysandra asked, excited. She loved beautiful gowns.

Lysandra waved, seeing Aria huddled at the edge of the winter wonderland. "Run across, love!" she called on the freezing girl. "It´s a little more warm inside the fenced area!"

Aria looked up at Lysandra and waved back. "I sure hope it is warmer because I am freezing!" Aria got up and sprinted towards the center of activity within the fenced area and hoped the movement would warm her up. She smiled as her breathe came out in thick puffs of white that dissipated quickly.

"Nice to see you, Aria! Did you manage to buy something from the pop up booths in the Great Hall, too?" Lysandra asked, curious. She had completely missed the opportunity like it seemed.

Millie had taken a nap before the festival began. She awoke and got dressed in warm clothes and her new winter coat her mum sent her from London. She finally made it to the igloo and looked around for anyone she knew. She quickly spotted Aria ( ). She approached her friend with a warm smile and hug. "Hi Aria! It feels like it's been forever. How are you?"

She looked around and spotted Zoe () in one of her new robes. "Zoe! That dress is perfect on you! Had I thought about wearing a dress but I wasn't sure how cold it would be, plus I heard there was going to be ice skating on the lake. I'm not exactly graceful on ice. The last thing I need to do is show my pants off if I slip and land on my bum. I'll never hear that end of that in the common room." she said with a half laugh

He was on break from Drumstrang and come to London to meet with Gringotts about becoming a Curse Breaker when he finished his schooling. He had asked Millie's parents if it would be okay to visit Millie during the Winter Festival. They agreed, knowing it was a good idea. He left the bank and looked at his watch. "Gut. It's still early. He went into The Leaky Cauldron and approached the bar and ordered a beer. Once he finished and paid, he asked the bartender if he could use the floo network out of the pub. He left a few extra knuts as tip and walked to the fire place. He tossed a large pinch in and calmly said, "Three Broomsticks". He was quickly taken to the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. He arrived and looked at his watch again. "Still early" he mumbled to himself. He went to the bar and ordered another beer and fish and chips.

After he ate, paid his bill and drank one more beer, he left and walked up to Hogwarts and the festival grounds. He looked around for Millie but didn't see her at first. He cast his patronus, now an arctic fox, "go find Millie" he instructed. He followed it and finally saw her, wrapped in a pink plaid jacket. "I vish I brought her some flowers." he thought to himself.

Millie was still talking to Zoe when she saw the arctic fox patronus. She didn't think anything about it for a moment before she remembered their patronuses had changed due to her depression over having severe Dragon Pox. She turned and looked and saw Emmett following his patronus. "Emmett!!!" she yelled and ran. Before she could jump on him, she remembered where she was and was making a scene. She extended her hand, "Mr. Keller. What a pleasant surprise to see you here". Emmett took her hand, bowed, and kissed it. "Miss. Tudor. I vanted to surprise you vhile I vas visiting London. Your parents and headmistress said it vould be okay to come to zhe festival." She could feel herself blushing.

Emmett offered his arm to her and she took it and the two walked back to where had been. Emmett waved off his patronus and Millie said, "I almost forgot yours changed too. I'm really happy you're here." "Only for zhe night zough. I have to go back to London after zhe festival and back to Durmstrang in the morning. I vant to say hello to everyone, zhen ve can see vhat zhere is to do."

The two approached Zoe. "Zoe, this is Emmett." Emmett nodded and said, "Hallo. Hallo Aria" he waved to the other girl. "Vhere is everyone else?" he asked. "They make still be in their common rooms getting ready." she told him. "Do you want to wait or see what there is to do?" "Let's build a snowman" he told her. She smiled and nodded

Kerran sniffed Lysandra's fingers, and eagerly stretched his neck out to be scratched.
"He's got thick fur and doesn't mind the cold at all." Mallowsweet explained as the oversized feline happily rubbed his face against Lysandra's hand. At Zoe's greeting Mallowsweet looked around and gasped at the stunning gown she was wearing. "Wow! You look amazing!" She exclaimed. "Aren't you terrified of damaging that gorgeous dress out here?
Hi there" she added, as Aria joined them.
"You know they have hot drinks and a toasty bonfire going in the clear dome thingy over there. If you'd like though, I've been practicing my warming charms on a bunch of mittens and scarves. Some of them work pretty good if you'd like a set.
Hey, we may fall down on the ice, but we'll be plenty warm doing it." she laughed.
"I'm probably the lead mare of the clutz on ice club" Mallowsweet added, still laughing as she pantomimed her hooves sliding out from under her.
"I think I'll stick to watching the skating."

Kerran was such a sweet pet, Lysandra could scratch him all day. "Perhaps, Kerran could meet Frida some day. Are you able to communicate with him?" she asked, curious. "Btw, warming charms sound amazing. Aria is going to love that! Perhaps, you´re able to enchant Zoe´s dress, too, so she doesn´t freeze when we´re going to the lake later. It´ll be a lot colder down there!"

Inspired by the pair which had begun to build a snowman, the half-elf took a step back to the ice cubes, choosing one of the smaller ones to the right. "Let´s start from scratch..... ice scratch!" she laughted, taking off her jacket and whipping out her wand.

"Well, he doesn't really listen to me, unless I'm saying something he wants to hear. like 'Dinner is ready..', But he is really expressive when he wants something." Looking at Zoe's sparkling gown Mallowsweet sighed. "I wouldn't dare try. You have no idea how many mittens I set on fire while I was practicing. These three pairs and two scarves are all that survived." She dug the mittens and brightly striped scarves out of a deep pocket in her bulky sweater and held them out.

"Oh, that´s great! I am sure you´ll find takers in a blink! They are lovely, knitted, too! Homspun? I always have warm hands when doing magic... especially when excited!" the young girl chattered away.

Inspired by the snowman under construction, she formed an image in her mind and put her wand to action. A soft swirl, a figurine which looked like the number 8, some little points into the air and a downward swirl at the end and a group of six miniature snowmen populated the glittering snow. They formed a circle around Lys, danced a roundelay around their creator and then they made off to their bigger counterpart, beginning a new roundel circling Mister Big.

Aria watched as everyone enjoyed various winter activities. She looked over to Lysandra (), "no, I hadn't purchased anything. I found it easier to just window shop so I could save money." In reality Aria hadn't any money to spend anyways but it made her feel better to pretend that she was simply choosing to save.

Aria smiled brightly at Mallowsweet (), "Hi! It's so good to see you out here too!" She was surprised by how many students she'd managed to get to know this year. It seemed that every year she met a plethora of new people and often wondered how she hadn't met them before. Mallowsweet and Lysandra were both new and wonderful individuals that she'd met and she was glad that she'd gotten to know them.

When Aria saw Millie run up she laughed in delight at her bundled up appearance. " am glad to see that I'm not the only one who is cold out here!" She said while an involuntary shiver ran down her spine. "I am actually really enjoying the winter festivities, even though it is rather cold. How about you?" ()
