Well this is the second time a name for the same pet got swiped that I wanted (by the same person no less) so I'm just a little salty now and probably going to stop name hunting. :T I honestly had six different tabs open all visible on one screen and started clicking before the time was up so the page loading wasn't an issue and I still lost out so I dunno. I'm just feeling pretty downhearted about it. I stayed up an extra 4 hours today while being super exhausted to try for this name after waiting months for this day to come. Not to mention I now have no clue what I'm going to do for this pet once again. I honestly don't know how I can improve my name hunting method so yeah I don't know what I'm going to do from here on out.. Anyone else feeling this struggle?

I don't tend to really keep track of name clearings any more, I had too many occasions where my computer decided to lag at just the right/wrong time and the names flewwwwww away. I'm sorry you weren't able to get the names you wanted however. There will be more names and better days :)

Yeah it's pretty depressing when that kind of thing happens, and I get a decent bit of anxiety in the hour or so leading up to the clearing so it's probably not very healthy for me. c': Thanks for your kind words though<3

It's alright there will always be something else! I just got pretty downhearted about this one seeing as I've been trying to get some nice names for my older pets because I feel they deserve to be treated better. c': I've already got at least one maybe two ideas though I'm definitely not as crazy about them as I was for the past two names. oTL We'll see though!

I know that feeling 😩 I've never managed to snag any of the really "desirable" names I've had my eye on, despite waiting months for some of them 😞 (R.I.P. to 'tribute' pets with common names)

I still don't know what the best method is for getting the names, and it's difficult to find out since others (understandably) don't want to give out the 'secret' to their success 😔 I've been trying to figure out better methods, but it's too hard to tell if it's a lack of skill or luck that I'm still getting sniped. :I I'm also paranoid about the chances that Subeta's name clearing process starts earlier or later than the internal site time, which might have some effect on loading somehow ._. But I could be overthinking that angle.

Were your six open tabs to ensure a more accurate time or something?

honestly pound surfing is pretty good i've gotten some bomb names from it like i got invalid, verbal, years all from the pound its Neato

Honestly it's probably just those that have super fast/reliable internet will always have a better shot over everyone else because their pages will just load faster. Yeah I could completely see that being a thing and you just have to figure out the actual time which makes some people just better at grabbing names.

Also I just do the six tabs thing because I never know how long it'll take the page to load, so I click them all at about a second difference just in case the page decides to load super fast so I don't have to waste time by going back to the last page and scrolling down etc.

The pound is great don't get me wrong there, I am constantly pound surfing. xD In fact I've gotten the names Gallantry and Ladies from the pound and just today I got Hyperventilate so sometimes good RW names will drift through the pound and those days are awesome<3 :') Edit: I actually believe I got compose from the pound too! :o Also all my original pets came from the pound so the 6 I have currently plus 5 I gave away though most of their names aren't really special. xD

Most of the time though I'm mainly looking for specific names that fall under a certain category so it's not really a reliable way of getting a name you actually have a use for. It's more like you're just getting a nice name that can be used.

Another thing with this is the names I was looking for were for legacy pets of mine. I was hoping to save a little CSC on the name swap by not having to pay extra to swap two names if I could just manage to find a free name I liked for the pet. (:

While I feel your pain on missing out on a name clearing, I really don't think it's fair that you complain about what someone does with their pet. Whether it's a 'tribute' name or not, it really is up to them to make any character they desire, or no character at all.

I've learned over the years that name clearings are pretty much pot luck, as well as being very stressful. I try to avoid them as much as possible. I have missed out on many names in the past, only one (almost) made me cry xD

Unfortunately, that's just how it goes sometimes. Better luck on the next name, should you decide to go for any.

Clicking before the time is up probably isn't doing you any favors, though. Before 3:00 on the dot, the name is still considered taken by the previous owner

It's hard name hunting (and trying to snag a name), but I've gotten some pretty amazing names and missed a lot as well. I've also found some well named pets in the pound ^^

@ sheer Ouch that sucks. I hope you have better luck next time! I think as far as name clearings for me, I lucked out because the names I were after probably aren't the most common. That being said, I did lose a name that I really wanted and was pretty sad for a couple days haha. You win some you lose some I guess.

When I consider getting a name I usually stalk the "available real word names" or "available real names" thread for a while and use that to make a list. There's a pretty great selection between those two lists so they're always fun to check out. When I came back from a hiatus and lost almost all my names I picked up some good ones from there.
