"Honestly some of you look right glum. Well no need to fear, Professor Norman is here." He chuckled. "As it happens today's subject is cheering charms. That's right. It's time to get your happy faces on. The charm was invented by Felix Summerbee during the 1400s as some of you might be interested to know. Students who give themselves too much cheer can recover in the quiet room next door."

This week's theme is Cheering Charms.

Your challenge this week is to create a Human Avatar depicting your student happy. Give me a little description. Did they need the quiet room because they were giggling excessively? That sort of thing.

Some rules for this challenge: 1.) MUST USE SCHOOL UNIFORMS. Your HA represents students in class. 2.) Please include a little description of how much cheer they gave themselves. 3.) Must be indoors. 4.) No sad faces. Must have some sort of smile. 5.) Bonus points may be awarded to particularly creative entries.

Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points!

This challenge will end on Monday, January 8th at 11:59 PM!

Unfortunately Niamh hadn't read the footnote in the book, which explained that a metamorphmagus should be careful to not use the full effect of the charm on themselves. With tears of laughter rolling down her cheeks, she realised that her hair had not only grown to ridiculous lengths, but had also changed to a bright blonde colour.

She still hoped she'd get the house points for Gryffindor for trying though :P

CHARMING FUMES by Lysandra from Ravenclaw

Lysandra wasn´t the most cheerful girl around so she decided to practise this charm thoroughly. A little too much as things turned out. She managed to conjure a nice smile on her face yet with so much pressure that she started to pass winds suddenly. You can imagine her blush of embarrassment when she noticed a stinker bomb forming at her heels, absorbing all the fumes and cackling loudly to the cheer of her fellow students. With her head hanging and windmilling her arms, she tried to reach the quiet room as fast as one can....

Outfit Not Found Hollynd had to excuse herself to recover in the quiet room, next door from where most of her Charms class was. Her uncontrollable giggles were starting to become very unattractive laughing sounds, and the tears in her eyes were making her makeup run when she darted out from the lesson. She was starting to get wet, so she pulled a mop and bucket from a utility closet. "The floor is getting much too slippery," Hollynd thought.

As she laughed and laughed, the tears flowed and flowed. Hollynd was reminded of Alice, from the Muggle story, who cried a pool of sad tears instead of accidental magical happy ones. A passing Seventh Year noticed her predicament and he conjured an inflatable paddling pool to catch all the water. Hollynd felt extremely cheerful despite being in such an embarrassing state. A motherly girl found and handed her a towel for her hair. "Professor Norman!" She heard them yell. "There's a situation in the classroom next door! There seems to be an excess of cheer and it might flood the place!"

Keely wasn't used to an abundance of cheer in her life; in fact, if you asked some people, they might even say that she had a permanent haughty look on her face. People just really aren't her thing, but she doesn't mean to come off as rude and uninviting. She carefully cast the spell, making sure to not overdo it and send herself into a fit of uncontrollable giggles, which some of the other students had done. Keely felt her eyes scrunch shut and her mouth contort itself into a smile. She seemed to be happier than she had been in a long time.

Kat was already normally pretty cheerful but a little added cheer couldn’t hurt anyone. She performed the spell and a large smile appeared on her face and she couldn’t stop laughing. This spell was something she would definitely have to try on friends in the future! Hopefully Gryffindor would get plenty of points.

Merlin- Slytherin

Merlin was sad to have left home so he needed the cheering, leaving his pregnant mom wasn’t easy since he wanted to look after her. He also had to leave most of his pets behind and that broke his heart as well. He made the cheering charm and his lips immediately went into a wide smile. He really didn’t wanted to go to the quiet room so he didn’t went overboard. Still he felt like trying the charm in other students to cheer them more.

Haha! I love that there are no sad faces allowed, what a clever contest theme!

Aria Quin-Lee -- Gryffindor Aria is having an allergic reaction to something in the magic of the charm or perhaps someone placed a jinx on her. In either case, Aria is steaming from the eyes every time she giggles or laughs, which she cannot refrain from doing. She has also begun bursting with raucous laughter quite often, which is always followed by a burst or fire emanating from her open mouth. Needless to say, Aria has created quite a scene and has been sent up to the infirmary.

Hopefully a yellow sun coloured spell will lift the spirits...~, Elizabeth thought. She just couldn't bear the grimaces of the other students. Some looked kinda ridiculous with fangs for teeth or very wide smiles - but in her eyes, this wasn't funny...it was rather embarassing. She lifted an eyebrow. Did nobody here think of his or her reputation for looking so broadly amused?, Elizabeth asked herself before casting the spell carefully. She felt slightly happier and looked in a small mirror. She was glad for the reflection with a small smile on her lips not looking totally overemotional as it would have not met any standards of a honourable pure-blood upbringing.

Elizabeth Amalia Covington - Slytherin

Outfit Not Found Jona was unsuspecting when he cast the cheering charm. He wasn't sure if it was normal to witness illusions, however he did bubble with joy at the thought of one memory in particular. He, his brother, and his mom had all gone for a walk one day when they came across some young puppies in the park. They stayed and played with the puppies as they watched the sun set. Once it was dark, they walked back home hand-in-hand and sharing a single hot chocolate between the three of them. The fabric of this memory wove together with Jona's current reality, so that he saw the classroom around him, but he also see the those adorable little puppies; he could feel the warmth of the sun as it faded and gave way to night; he could taste the hot chocolate in his mouth and he could hear his mother laughing. The cheering charm wore off and his own laughter turned to heavy breaths as he put his hands on his knees and swallowed hard. He was nauseous and felt his gut twist in response to the mixture of emotions inside. The charm had worked; he felt happiness, but that happiness came tinged with sadness for it flooded through him in a giant wave and left an empty cave in its place, making him wonder if he would ever feel that happy again.

Jona Fletch / Hufflepuff

Mallowsweet - Gryffindor Outfit Not Found Perhaps someone should get this hoofed menace to the quiet room. An overly cheerful centaur tends to break things. Charms may not be Mallowsweet's best class, she still has a lot to learn about control and moderation.

Aminita, Slytherin

Private Outfit Usually pretty stoic and in control of her emotions, Aminita might have overdone it a bit with her spell. She was feeling her cheeks, crying with soft little giggles, and the air around her has gained the scent of flowers. She had to be led to a quiet room to calm down, laughing that her cheeks hurt from smiling, giggling at everything and anyone she passed.

Outfit Not Found Luck wondered if she should be performing this charm on herself as she didn't want to overdo it, and worried about becoming hysteric. She eventually performed the charm and a powerful shot of rainbowy happiness burst from her wand swarmed her. She burst out laughing as the cheer overtook her, warping her perception into a color-filled world.

The winter months usually make Keet feel especially depressed, so she didn't skimp at all on her cheering charm! Now she is feeling quite shiny and happy, and she is laughing so hard that tears are streaming down her face. Maybe her charm was a little too powerful... time to recover in a quiet room where her giggling won't bother the other students, or embarrass her too much. ;)

It started as a stifled guffaw. When that escaped his body in the form of laughter, the giggles came soon after. Tears streaming down his face, he grabbed at his stomach, still aching from the laughter. He wiped his eyes and grinned. The hex was great, and it was even funnier to watch the results on his fellow students!

After completing the incantation and with a flick of his wand Martouf imediatly could tell he'd done something wrong... everything was muted, sound and color, and the grin he could feel spreading across his face wasn't at all happy... how could things have gone so wrong.. .. errm Professor Norman a little help!?!
