Hey everybody!
I was just looking to ask everyone about suggestions for ways of exercise. I have a lot of trouble with depression, which often has me stuck in bed. Its basically impossible for me to "go out" and move as I get a lot of anxiety about being out in the world outside of my routine. I also really have trouble focusing on a workout. I cant stay on the treadmill...I literally get bored and wander off (bribes make no difference). What are some creative ways you get yourself moving? Any food and eating tips and suggestions?
The only thing I've found that really helps me on the treadmill is having the right music on. If I'm really into a song, I'll not pay attention to anything else and only to that. A friend of mine swears by watching whatever show she's into at the time on her tablet while she's on the treadmill.
I wish I had some more help to give you. Honestly, I could use some myself and eating tips too. Ugh. I need to lose about 50 lbs, stat.
Thanks for the feedback! I dont think the treadmill will ever work for me. The trick of it is that I know I can watch/listen....without the boring treadmill! Im rolling my own eyes at this, too, by the way. Im ridiculous.
In warmer months I can sometimes get myself to do some light hiking or meet a friend to walk dogs or whatever but in Winter, it gets awful.
Blah.
I have a lot of issues with my depression as well, and I'll get to where I hate the idea of leaving my room. I recommend finding a light workout you can do in your room, it wouldn't be much but anything is better than nothing. And honestly if you want something to do without even leaving your bed, try some easy yoga poses and exercises that are done laying down. I hope that you are able to find things that help you! Depression sucks.
Thats a great idea, and theres a better chance of getting myself moving near my bed, tbh. Someone else also suggested dancing, which might be a good fit on some days as well! I am really glad I made this thread. Some simple ideas I wouldnt have come up with on my own.
You could try searching for workout routines on Youtube? Something dancey/zumba-esque if you're into that sort of thing, or simple pilates or yoga, all of those can generally be done within your home and are relatively easy to find. There are also lots of healthy/alternative eating channels too that can help give you some ideas for creating a better diet for yourself. :)
