I have a few people that have always just stuck out to me and I know a lot about their lives and what they did.

A few of mine are:

Marilyn Monroe

  • Beyond ahead of her time and constantly abused by the system. She was a rather talented actress and was often paid WAY less than the other actresses in films even if she was the lead or co-lead. She loved learning and reading and had a library. She helped Ella Fitzgerald when a club would not let her perform because of her race.

Eartha Kitt

  • Outspoken goddess. Talented actress.

Marina Abrovamic

  • One of the best performance artists I have ever heard about. She was known for her pieces with her partner Ulay-- years later when they had decided their relationship had run it's course, they both went to either side of the Great Wall of China and met in the middle to say goodbye. Her most breathtaking piece involved a demonstration where she stayed still for several hours and people could do whatever they wanted to her and she would take the consequence even if it meant death. There was a table of props from the mundane to a knife and gun. While some people would draw on her, others took a nasty turn including a man slicing her neck to drink her blood and someone pointing the gun at her head. [Try looking up Project 0...I believe that was the name]

Frida Kahlo

  • Unparalleled passion in every aspect of her life from love/affairs to art to political presence and knowledge.

Yes, I know they're all 'nerdy' or 'geeky' or 'fan' people, but that doesn't make them any less inspirational.

I have a hard time thinking of any, I believe I don't look up to anyone. I guess James T de Kay would be it, for pointing out how left handers are. The Left Hander's Handbook is the first book I've read that praises we the sinister. Though Marilyn Monroe stands out when mentioned by Battykins. First time I see a southpaw named by someone other than myself.

Old, and obsolete.

I think one of the best things I've heard and had stick with me that I apply to everything I do was said by Travis McElroys character Magnus in The Adventure Zone podcast. Everyone had to make something then offer it up to a monster called "the light of creation" and he carved a duck out of wood and when his time came he set it down and said "it isn't perfect, but it is the best I could do." I try to keep that attitude with all my work and relationships along with mostly the way Travis McElroy exists as well. Him and his brothers creature so much and all so good content about almost anything and everything and do so in such an exclusive way.

Paige Louise, nowhere near a massive celebrity but a massive makeup artist in the U.K. who now has her own studio etc. It’s quite impressive

Oh, I feel a really similar way about Magnus! He is a real inspiration and that quote really made me think when I first heard it. Tears too. Really powerful stuff, and a good thing to live by. Those brothers are such good people.

Personally though? I feel a strong connection to Zhaan from a show called Farscape. I watched it when I was in a really turbulent place, and her sense of spirituality even through the darkest of times really inspired me. She never preached or became sanctimonious about it, she just did her best to be a good person and to help people. She made her mistakes but she never truly lost sight of who she was. I've always wanted to have that kind of confidence in myself and I think I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

Lana Del Rey. she is my spirit animal. If my heart & soul had a soundtrack, it would be her music. Her music made me a stronger person & helped me heal through the roughest times in my life.

Same, honestly! Regardless of what mood I am in or what I am going through, there is a song of hers to get me through it. I am also incredibly impressed with how she has been handling her career and other concerns she has in her life lately, she is v inspiring to me. :--)

tbh? kylo ren. villain and all. i relate to him so hard, so it's almost a reverse inspiration-- a person just like me (mentally ill, unable to function in polite society, violent, dramatic, volatile, trans as hell fight me) who went down a much darker path, and who i am would be a beacon of light to him... only because he is me in my brain, i end up being a source of inspiration for myself. it's pretty great tbh.

hank - he/him 🐾 kylo - sith/siths or she/her 🐾 wormie - they them see who's fronting in our status!
