Ok, so as the title says I've never made a CW, I'm totally new to the whole process and really the CW world in general. I decided to try and make some real heels and wanted to see what everyone thought.

EDIT: I made an updated version based on some of the feedback and was hoping everyone could let me know if I'm heading in the right direction. Thanks!

(possible name) Precious Bow Stilettos

I'm not an artist let alone a cw artist so I'm sure you'll need more than my humble input but as a start, I see thicker black lineart around the heel/back region of the avatar's left stiletto (our right) and the shading looks a tad flat/monochrome in general giving the stilettos a flat look but I'm not sure how to fix it

this is a google drive folder posted by in the cw introduction thread

overall though I think it's a great first start!! :D they certainly look different from the heels on site that we have and are cute c:

thank you for the input and links! :) I'll make sure to look through them to see if there're any tips to help with the shading.

I'm not really up to date in terms of whats popular cloth-wise, but maybe i can still be of help. I think the outer lineart fits pretty well with the ha's lineart. However, due to the light color of the shoes it looks a bit overwhelming. So i would suggest to make it just a tiny bit thinner. I like the inner lineart a lot though. Especially the small details like the bows are very well made!! The shading looks indeed a bit flat,i would suggest to peek at other cw shoes and try to apply a similar shading - depending on the look you are trying to achieve. Howevever my main issue would be the size of the feet. While i know there are very few options to make highheels, this makes the feet look pretty huge compared to the rest of the body... ._.

thank you for the input! I do agree about the size of the shoes, it was my major struggle trying to make them smaller while still covering the whole base foot. I'll have to try a little bit more to see if I can shrink them a bit more. I'm glad you like the lineart (lineart has never been my strength) but you're right that it's probably a tiny bit heavy. I was just watching some of the tutorials on shading last night and I learned a lot so I may be trying to reshade them when I get a chance.

Well there are very few options in that area, if you place them any higher to shorten the feet, the base will be visible again. Having something behind the shoes to cover it up might be an option, but that might look pretty weird..? For the color/shading you might want to start with something less saturated, the more vibrant a color the more difficult to get the shading right. A soft/rosey pink for example is way more easy to shade than a hot pink.

yeah, it's going to be hard to figure something out. I actually just realized though that the Plunder-Filled Pink Heels are pretty close to what I'm trying to do, so I may look at those a bit closer and see if I can figure something out. I think I do need to just start from scratch with the coloring/shading. The tutorials I watched had a totally different approach from what I tried so we'll see if those work haha.

@ erynamrod Good luck finding a solution! =)

Yeah, i had to redo coloration and shading quit a few times as well, sometimes you just can't get it right on first try. xD

I have to admit, i like the first version better.. ^^'

  1. The shading on this one is better - but still a bit harsh, especially on the bow.The contrast between basecolor and shading is pretty huge and very obvious.
  2. Something about the right shoe (her left) is off. It still looks kinda long, however, the toes point into a different direction than the leg.

I think is far as the shape goes the first version looked a bit more.. logical/natural? I tried to lift the toes a bit while lowering the heel on the right side. Its not perfect by any means, but maybe a pointer in a different direction? (..in case pic isn't showing: click)

thanks again for the input! I did struggle with the...direction of the toe I guess on that one foot. I kept thinking she kind of looks like she's unbalanced and about to fall over because I couldn't get it right, but didn't know if it was just me. Back to the drawing board!
