So I recently begun my journey on zero waste living, and I absolutely love it! Does anyone else on here have a zero waste home?

A simple life is a lifelong goal. I assume learning to be as you describe is part of that solution.

[] zero waste? wow, impressive. I live in an apartment building, so this is quite the challenge for us.

i do try to reduce the waste - mainly by using my own shopping bags whenever i go to the store. I also use whatever other bags we get, as trash bags - all our trash gets collected at the same time, there's barely any recycling and separating trash :(

have any tips on how i can reduce waste?

It has for sure simplified my life I love it! I also live in an apartment-like home. (It's a condo which is basically an apartment that I own)

There are a lot of things you can do that don't require a fancy living space. Your example of bringing reusable shopping bags is a great one! A really wonderful switch that I made that helped me reduce a TON of waste was using rags instead of paper towels. This was a hard switch at first, but now it is super easy because I just throw the used rags in the laundry when I do a load, and it also saves me money! Sometimes switches like that can be intimidating at first because you of course want to make sure everything stays clean! But I actually feel like things are cleaner now honestly.

There is a really great book out there called Zero Waste home by Bea Johnson, literally the book that changed my life. But I have a lot of ideas of things to do, that can be done in an apartment. Let me know if there is a particular area you want to work on (beauty routine, kitchen, etc.) and I'd me more than happy to share.

[] oh, i also use rags to clean - paper towels are pricey here, and i always saw them as a waste of money. >.> i rather buy fancier toilet paper, haha

i also use [other] rags to do dishes {dishwashing machines are not very popular here -they did start to be more and more popular, and i admit sometimes they'd make my life easier, lol} and i clean them weekly. i started to have strong negative feelings towards kitchen sponges because they allow bacteria to grow in them [yuck!] and replacing them also costs a lot of money in the long run [depending on the type one buys. i usually got the cheapest which costs about as much as the cheapest fresh loaf of bread - about USD 0.25. The fancier ones costs about USD 1, and that's quite a splurge for our incomes]

yes, i'd like some tips, please. kitchen related is good - beauty not so much because i don't really use beauty products and my partner needs special types of products].

I grew up impoverished, I know a thing or two about reusing. I think a step in the right direction is learning to have less in the first place. Something my older and younger relatives might not understand at first.

Usually the driving factor in my house is sloth, they don't want to use then clean dishes. Or carry a handkerchief...

I also started a conversation here about Zero Waste if you are interested in learning! No pressure though!

Aw, thanks for the ping! I actually work in a facility that's zero waste and I manage the program so I know a good deal about it; I've just been poorly at transferring it to my real life. It's weird, I'm super good about it at work, but outside those walls there's a lot more oddball things.

I started a zero waste bathroom recently, including toothpaste, soap, and razor.
