I'm working today only because I get double-time for it. I'll be making almost $200 just for today. I normally work Mondays anyway and we celebrated yesterday, so I'm fine with it. My mom will have a big dinner ready when I get home at 4:30, so that's something to look forward to. I'm not really religious at all, so I don't do church or anything, and I don't have any family around besides my parents and uncle and aunt, who have no kids, so there's really no one to celebrate with and nothing to do.
I swear to God though, if I get one more person coming in and going all 'Ohhh poor baby you have to work Christmas' I'm going to lose my shit. I don't do well with the pitying bullshit. Nor do I much care for the super cheery Merry-Christmasers. No, I don't really mind working today, but I'm not super cheerful about it either. Kindly fuck off...like every other day.
So how are you doing at work today? Do you work retail? Thank God, I don't, I have a front desk job. Want to murder the next customer/guest you see?
In my previous job, I worked all holidays. This because of my beliefs, so I was available. Regardless of pay or what, I was more concerned with my tasks. I worked as a ranch hand, no complaints from the livestock.
My next career move is auto maintenance...watch me spurn holidays.
I work retail but in a grocery store, and Christmas is one of the only days we're closed. With other holidays, we're sometimes open but I generally don't go for those because I like having time off and trying to push customers out of the store early so that the rest of us can have a bit of a holiday too is not worth any extra pay for me.
