I'm a bit confused with these, got a notification that I earned a forum point and it told me to check out the shop, went there and everything costs raffle tickets.I have 17 of them, but I don't see any forum points anywhere. So what's the difference between the two is there a thread with info?

They're the same thing, just different names for some reason :)
not sure why forum points is a thing. It's not like you can't buy a Raffle Ticket in the Forum Point shop. It used to be that you got an actual virtual item, the Raffle Ticket, randomly when you posted. Now it gets added into your total automatically without you having to turn them in.
Raffle Tickets or Forum Points are not very common, but folks were just too tired to turn them in or something. Back when they were a thing, automatic turning in got Suggested a lot.
Ah got it.I saw you could buy a raffle ticket, but the 1 raffle ticket cost 1 raffle ticket so I didn't get the point of that.XD

It's for people who get a lot of forum points/raffle tickets but don't really want to buy anything from the shop. You can use your points to buy the tickets and then sell those.
I did report this weird naming inconsistency in the Spelling and Grammar report form in Problems & Bugs, since it doesn't appear to be a programming issue. When they get around to fixing it hopefully it will be less confusing.
The raffle ticket is a way for people to "trade" forum points if they had too many. You redeem it for one forum point.
The admin team should try make the names consistent. :|
Ah okay, thanks.I get it now.Kind of confusing at first LOL

I feel like the change to forum points had to do with making the raffle tickets automatically redeemed when the shop came out vs. giving you an actual raffle ticket item in your inventory but it really is more unclear this way. I feel like it'd be easier to just make the event say "You've earned a Raffle Ticket. It's been automatically added to your points here" with a link to the shop or something
