Millie was running around the Charms classroom, trying to make sure everything was perfect. Many of the professors had reached out to friends within different professions among the wizarding world. She in turn at made several posters with information regarding many different careers. She had asked her father, Andrew Tudor, a healer at St Mungos to come talk and he was glad to help his only daughter. Millie knew her father loved visiting Hogwarts and came to visit his alma mater as much as he could. She saw him walk into the classroom and her giant smile turned into a big frown. "Oh no. He wore that stupid tie". Millie could feel her face turning red from embarrassment Private Outfit Andrew Tudor entered the room and gave a giant smile to his daughter. "Heya Mills." he said pulling her into a half hug. "Look, I wore the tie you gave me when you were little. And let's face it, it wouldn't be career day if your dad didn't embarrass you at least a little." "Hi dad. Thanks for coming. You really didn't need to wear the tie though. I need to make sure everything else is set up and run down to the kitchens and make sure the house elves know where to bring the snacks. I'll introduce you to the professors who will be speaking today."
After Millie gave a quick introduction, Millie quickly left the room and ran down to the kitchens to help the elves. "Oh, I hope people show up today. I hate being in the spot light but I really want this to go over well" she said to herself and she tickled the pear in the painting that lead into the kitchens. "I'm sure everyone put out the flyers in their common rooms... I hope"
((I totally got my days mixed up and almost forgot to make this. I'll add make a real introduction post tomorrow morning. Until then, pings. Feel free to ping others because I know I'll miss some. Millie turned to the classroom a few minutes later with a huge plate of pastries and a few house elves following her carrying pitchers of pumpkin juice, ice water, glasses, and bottles of butterbeer. "You can place them on that far table. Thank you." she said with a warm smile to the house elves.
"Of course Miss Melia. Do you need anything else from us?" asked one of them and she politely declined. As the elves left the room, Millie went to her father. "Could you help me make sure all the pamphlets are neatly spread out on the tables?" Once they finished, she found a piece of parchment and her quill and wrote
and stuck it to the door.
She returned to her father and started biting her lower lip and shifting her weight back and forth, worrying no one would show up.

Sauvage came into the room, smelling freshly baked pastries and - "Oh!" She said, "It appears zat I am ze first one 'ere." She went to give Millie () a hug. "I wonder where everyone is..."
Millie's face lit up with Sauvage () entered the room. "Hi Sauvage, I'm so glad you're here." she told her friend with a hug. "This is my dad, Andrew Tudor. He is here to speak about Healers. "Hello Sauvage. It's nice to meet you. I'm happy to finally get to meet some of Mills friends". Andrew Tudor greeted her.
Millie shifted on her feet. "I hope more people show up. If you're free, dad is going to treat us to dinner at the Three Broomsticks. You're welcome to join us"
Poppy thought it was sweet to see a father be so humorous and open about his affection for his daughter. She was very close to her own, to the point that her mother would tease her about being a daddy's girl. None of her own ambitions were represented at the presentation, but Poppy wanted to support Millie, check out the speakers, and dinner in Hogsmeade was a welcome surprise. She waved to Millie () and and poured herself a generous glass of pumpkin juice before taking a seat in the front left corner of the Charms classroom.

Millie had gone to the table and got a bottle of butterbeer. She returned to the middle of the room and saw Poppy () enter the room. She was happy to see a few more people enter the room. She gave Poppy a warm smile and a wave.
'Wizarding Careers' - now that was something Elizabeth was absolutely interested in. She already knew where she would see herself - at the Department of International Magical Cooperation or the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Given the fact that there would be an auror as guest speaker, maybe he could give her some advice on how things worked there. However, Elizabeth would never aspire to be an auror. Smiling smugly, she thought that being Head of either Magical Cooperation or Magical Law Enforcement would satisfy her more than enough. There was no need to pursue a dangerous profession.
With an excited smile which was rarely shown to others, Elizabeth waved to the other students. ( ) Stopping at the refreshments table, Elizabeth took a bottle of butterbeer and a glass, before taking a seat in the front row. With a tap of her wand at the bottle of butterbeer, the delicious liquid poured itself in the glass.
Drew was looking forward to the career workshop, especially when he'd seen the inclusion of a Magizoologist. Not that the others didn't sound interesting as well, but the animal loving boy was excited to learn more about his probable career choice. Besides, Millie was sweet and he wanted to help support his friend.
Entering the room, Drew was a bit surprised to see only a few people. Surely more would come. And at least he wasn't late or the last one. Smiling at the girls, he headed over to greet them.
() "Hello, Millie," Drew said. "Thanks for planning this. I'm looking forward to it."
Waving at Sauvage, () Poppy, () and Elizabeth, () Drew called, "Hello, ladies. Good to see you all." He wondered just how it was the girls always managed to look so nice. At least these four did. There were a few whose tastes didn't run along the same lines as Drew's but he figured that was because he was a boy. Going over to the refreshment table, he nodded politely to the man in the room before helping himself to some pumpkin juice.
"Of course I came," Sauvage told Millie (). "I 'ave to support my fellow 'ufflepuffs. And, I would be delighted to go to ze Three Broomsticks wiv you and you dad!" Sauvage turned to Millie's dad and said, "it is nice to meet you as well, sir. I look forward to 'earing what you 'ave to say about being a 'ealer."
She nodded to the Slytherin girl () when she came in, not remembering if they had met before or not. "I love your 'air," she told the girl in passing as she walked over to Drew () and Poppy (). "'ello! I 'ave not seen you guys since our awkward lake picnic." She tried to laugh about it, like it was a joke from the past that they could all move on from now. "Is zere anything in particular that you look forward to 'earing about?" Inwardly, Sauvage wondered how Drew's hair always look so unkempt.
Zoe hobbled into the room on crutches. She couldn't believe she tripped on a dirigible plant and hurt her ankle, but not wanting to be later, she simply conjured crutches and hurried to the workshop.
Millie took a huge sigh of relief when many of her friends started to arrive. She gave a friendly smile and wave to Elizabeth ()
"Hi Drew (). My pleasure. Thank you for coming. I appreciate everyone's support. "Oh and this is my dad, Andrew Tudor. He is a Healer at St. Mungos on the magical bugs floor. Dad, these are my friends, Drew, Sauvage ()and Elizabeth is over there. She pointed over towards Elizabeth. Private Outfit "Hello Drew and Sauvage. It's wonderful to meet you both. I'm happy to finally put faces to names."
Millie looked around and asked, "Where Magnus and Merlin ()? I was hoping to introduce Magnus to my dad, since he wants to be a healer. Hmm. I hope everything is okay."
Millie saw Zoe () enter the the room on crutches. "Ohh, here, let me help you." She grabbed two chairs, one for Zoe to sit on and another for her to prop her foot up and placed them near the door so Zoe wouldn't have to go as far.
"Would you like me to take a look?" Andrew Tudor asked. "I've been a healer for over 15 years. I've seen my fair shares of broken ankles"
"Oh thank ye so much," Zoe said sitting down and putting her leg up. "Magnus was taken by an auror named Paul Freeman, he came to the Great Hall. Magnus' mum is giving birth. I was at the table when the auror came." She smiled at Mr Tudor, "oh please would ye? I did nee wanna miss the workshop so I just made the crutches."
At Sauvage’s () comment about the picnic, Drew shrugged. “I’ve been busy,” he said simply. But her question had him nodding. “I’m most looking forward to learning more about magizoology.”
He raised an eyebrow as Zoe () hobbled into the room on her crutches.
Smiling at Millie (), Drew said, “Of course I would be here to support you.” Then he added with a mischievous grin, “Besides you always have great refreshments at your workshops.”
Drew turned to Millie’s dad and said, “Nice to meet you, sir. Millie’s workshops are always fun as well as informative. I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s talks, even though I’m mainly interested in being a Magizoologist.”
Marcia slipped in the door quietly, feeling a bit awkward that so many people had already arrived. Hopefully she wasn't the last one here. How absolutely rude of her. She had mainly come just to see Jade Mathers, the potions master, give her speech. It was one of her favorite subjects, after all. However, all of the other subjects would likely prove to be just as interesting.
She gave a quick wave to her housemates Drew (), Poppy (), and Elizabeth (), relieved to see some familiar faces. Marcia also gave small smiles and nods towards Zoe (), and Sauvage (), two girls she didn't know quite as well.
"Thank you for hosting this," She said briefly to Millie () before making a beeline straight to the refreshment table in an effort to avoid being dragged into any conversations with people she didn't know much. She grabbed a bottle of butterbeer, a glass, and a plate, then filled it up with an assortment of the available pastries. She didn't mind the little indulgence. It was a career workshop, after all, and she definitely considered trying all of the sweets to be practice for her future job as a baker. It totally counted.
Finally, she gracefully balanced her refreshments in her hands and settled into an available seat in the front row near both Elizabeth and Poppy. "Hello, you two," Marcia smiled, also using her wand to pour her butterbeer into the glass so she could be free to inspect one of the pastries she grabbed with some scrutiny. She shrugged lightly to herself before biting into it.
"Magizoology?" Sauvage asked Drew. "So is zat what you would like to do after 'ogwarts? Sounds interesting; is zere a specialization wivin ze field you are looking at specifically or is it just magizoology in general?" She did not know much on the subject, but she was happy to get to know Drew a bit more. He generally seemed to be more talkative when the guys ( ) were around, but she was going to give it her best shot anyway.
Out of the corner of her eye, Sauvage noticed a familiar Slytherin girl () who waved at her upon entering the room. Sauvage smiled and waved back, trying to remember if they had met before and if she should go introduce herself now or later.
Zoe gave waves and nods to Drew, Marcia and Sauvage. She waved her wand and summoned a few things from the table. Food sounded way too good to pass up.
"I will be right back," Sauvage said to Drew ()
She skipped over to Zoe () in her chair and asked, "What 'appened? I saw you using accio to get pastries, but is zere anything else I can 'elp wiv?"
"Oh hi," Zoe said pleasantly. "Silly me, I tripped over a dirigible plum plant on my way from Herbology." She smiled. "Mr Tudor is going to look at it. That's so kind. Would ye mind getting me a drink? I did nee want to risk sloshing it about."
"Absolutely!" Sauvage was happy to help Zoe (). From the refreshments table, she called over to Zoe, "What would you like?" Then, bringing her requested drink back to her, continued: "Zat is so nice of Millie's dad. I do 'ope it is an easy fix."
"Thank ye," Zoe said. When Sauvage got to soda, nothing sounded better. She smiled at the offered can. "Thank ye again. Aye, it tis. I'm very lucky to have a healer here. I hope it is to. I do nee fancy crutches in the snow."
The lights turn themselves on near the desk in the front of the classroom and several things appear at once. Large, moving posters depicting known dark wizards both past and present unfurl and stick themselves to the walls. A collection of Dark Detectors arranges itself across the desk, including a sneakoscope, a foe-glass covered with a veil and a dozen other objects of unknown use. On the floor near the desk's corner, a pile of small burgundy colored books pops into place.
Professor Carlos Valdez walks int the room, carrying a silvery cloak, his usual short cigar clenched between his teeth. Making is way to the front, he lays the cloak down and surveys the small crowd of students. When he catches sight of Andrew Tudor he smiles broadly and salutes with the hook that occupies the end of his left arm.
"Andy. Good to see you outside of Mungo's for a change."
Addressing the room in general he adds, "Please find a seat so we can begin. And if anyone would like to bring me one of those butterbeer and a mince pie from the table, that would be great."
He begins to walk back and forth across the front of the room as he addresses them.
"Most of you know me already from your Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, but for those of you who don't, I'm Carlos Valdez. Professor Valdez while at school. Outside in the bigger world however, I am both an Auror and Hit Wizard for the Ministry of Magic, Department of Magical Law Enforcement." He smiles. "Big title. And in this case, just as big a challenge and an even bigger responsibility. This is not a field to go into for fun and adventure. This is not a job for proving your bravery to your friends." Here he looked a few students in the eye knowingly. "This is a dangerous and difficult job that will test your courage, your endurance, your skill and your moral discipline every day. You will encounter many sleepless nights and harsh conditions. You will fight for your life. You will hold the lives of others in your hands. You will suffer injury." He paused and added in a somber voice. "You will lose friends and colleagues along the way."
Here he is silent for a few moments, allowing this information to sink in. He then leans on the desk, crossing his arms, and continues.
"If this is job you choose to take on, you will also find it rewarding. There are days that you will save lives or fill a cell in Azkaban." Here he gestures to the posters on the wall. "You will know that the darkness in the world is being held at bay by people like you."
"There are booklets here that I asked a friend of mine at the Ministry to put together for us." He gestures to the pile of burgundy books on the floor. "These will have the basics of the jobs, both Auror and Hit Wizard. What the differences are, how many O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s you need for each, what departments you will be reporting to, and so on. Feel free to take one and look it over when we're done here. For now, I'd like to focus on the day-to-day matters of the job. What life becomes when you become a 'Dark Wizard Catcher.'"
Here he noticed that there were a mixture of expressions on the faces of the students. Some were looking at him in fascination, some had gone a bit pale. Some were already becoming bored, obviously not interested in a career such as his. A few had their eyes focussed on one or more of the Dark Wizards and Witches looking down from the posters on the walls.
"Before I get talking too much, I think it would be best to hear what questions you have for me. Help me get to the parts you really want to know quickly. So..." He looks around at the students. "Who's first?"
