Resets have happened very rarely in the past, the previous reset was about two and a half or three years ago, and I believe that one of the battle staff have said that there will be no more statistics/battle opponent resets going forward.

oh ok, thank you for clarifying...I was asking because my pet is still pretty average in the coliseum and I tend to loose to opponents from time to time. So the new reset got me pretty excited, since I would have a clean slate...but your saying they will not be resetting the stats ever again now I might hold back on some of the tougher opponents until I know 100% I can land a win. I wish they could do it every couple of years or so, then I could mess up and know it would not be a permanent thing on my battle records. Then we could even have trophies for say 100 wins vs 0 losses for an opponent.

A perfect record is overrated, and impossible if you plan on fighting bosses during events that require losses

Yeah, what said, it's not really that big of a deal. I saw they were going to be opening high score lists again or something, but I think those would probably be for just wins. Losses are part of the game, and even people who have high stat pets can still lose to some of the really hard opponents.

Nobody is going to judge you if you have losses against certain opponents, it's how we learn and grow as battlers. :)

(And personally, I don't even really check other users' stats anyway. Most people probably won't even notice if you have losses.)

you just put things into perspective for me, thank you! that makes a lot more sense than what I had imagined

thank you for sharing such a positive outlook! I think I based my opinion off some of the video games I played in the past, like Castlevania for example. There were these gold trophies you earned during the boss battles, but you couldnt get hit at all. One mistake and you would have to start over from your last save. It took me a while but I played through the whole game without getting hit once.

Lol well, things like that might be fun for some people, but I'd probably just find it frustrating.

Subeta battling is pretty nice at least, you get rewarded for your successes but not penalized for your failures. The only real "penalty" or sorts is having to heal your pet if you tie or lose, before you can battle again.

I can't count the amount of times that I lost a battle that I should have won because I started with default weapons instead of my tier 12 set :P

When I started battling, I also tried to have no losses. But it's not very fun, since you don't get to try out opponents and different strategies. And you'll miss out on nice loot from event challengers that are here only for a limited amount of time.

One example of a pretty annoying opponent is General Error. Beatable by a tier 10-11 pet. But my tier 13 pet still managed some losses when she was early tier 13, due to bad luck with the blessings which in turn lead to being chain frozen by General Error. I wouldn't recommend waiting for a capped pet before trying General Error. It's pretty boring if you need to wait that long, and the Psycho Smasher scroll is super useful, so better to have it earlier rather than later!

so whats better, battling a weak opponent many times and winning every time or trying to beat a harder opponent but not getting many wins?

Thats is too funny! I think that has happened to me before, now I make sure to pay attention before going into battle. I remember the first opponent I ever battled(the one that doesn't fight back). I was still new to the whole thing and didn't prepare, I spend over an hour trying just clicking, it took so long to win.

I seem to always get stuck at Mechalag when doin the battle quests, Ive told myself I won't even bother with him anymore until I get a bit stronger. Also the other day I lost to Caanak even though Ive beat him before, that was a bit frustrating.

Your battle loot guide is the best! Im so inspired, there are prizes that I missed out on because I stopped after a couple of wins. I saved it for future reference.

I'd say beating a harder opponent is better, because they usually give out more experience points, which will help to make your pet even stronger.

Yeah, I was kind of afraid of Aboxalypse when I first started. I thought since he had a lot of hp, he'd be very powerfull. So I ignored him for some time xD And then ofcourse I went into the battle with only breakable items, and had to forfeit to get out of it.

With some opponents it happens that you lose while you normally win. It's just a bit of bad luck I guess :)

Oh, I think you should have a decent chance to beat Mechalag at the stats that Elloy has! I just had a go with my tier 4 pet with around 400 in each stat, and Mechalag didn't make a dent in his hp. The catch is to block as much earth damage as you can, while also having some healing. I was using the Replica Minotaur Knocker, Shinwas Heart Pendant and Aftershocks Scroll. That's not some stuff that beginning battlers usually have laying around (except maybe the minotaur knocker), but have a look at Mr Cool's battle blog? It's a little bit outdated, but the advice is still solid in most cases!

Aw, thanks! My guide is outdated now though, since the reset and update last Saturday, a lot changed, and there is now loot beyond 10 wins. So my guide is no longer accurate. I still have to go through all the challengers myself, but probably the general idea of loot for most challengers will have stayed the same in the first 10 wins.

you really know your stuff! So your saying grass scrolls are the best bet when battling Mechalag? I looked up the Aftershock scroll and its not in the secluded shrine so I can't make one. In the shops its super expensive Ive never even saved that much money before, is there another way I can get one? How did you manage to afford items like the Replica Minotaur Knocker and Shinwas Heart Pendant? I think thats my biggest problem when battling, is I don't have powerful enough weapons. Ive never even owned a weapon that expensive, and when I do manage to save up a good amount I splurge on a pet slot or on wearables. I need to rethink my strategy...thank you for all your tips I learned so much just by speaking with you! Im heading to the battle coliseum to put it to use.

Not necessarily grass scrolls, but any scrolls and weapons that block grass/earth damage, because Mechalag deals a ton of that. The Aftershocks is perfect in this case because it heals your pet, blocks some earth and block some dark (which Mechalag also uses). The Aftershocks scroll used to be loot from a cash shop challenger: Crithbolcan (if I spelled that right?). Now it has been moved to an achievement for beating it 10 times. You need a pretty high tier pet to get that, probably around tier 10-12 somewhere. That explains why the scroll is so expensive. I don't have much time right now, but maybe later I can look for some tier 5 weapons which would be good for beating Mechalag. What you can also do is to mod your weapons with defense crystals, like the . Let me check whether I have any of those, then I can send you a couple.

Weapons can be really expensive. I think I bought the Minotaur Knocker when it was just a little bit less expensive. The Aftershocks scroll I earned myself, and the Heart Pendant I got from a friend who quit subeta :/ That said, I wouldn't recommend buying the Heart Pendant, because it's too expensive for what it does. I'm using it because it scales, so I can make one weapon set for all my tier 1-4 pets at the same time, without having to swap anything out. I'm just lazy xD

The more recent weapons that I bought were from the Millionaire Center, for 500 million each xD I think it took me a year to get 500 million together. I'm not very fast at saving SP. What usually helps me is to move half of my SP earnings to my vault to save for weapons, and the other half I'm allowing myself to spend on wearables and whatnot. But as a beginning battler, you don't need to spend that much on a weapon. There are usually budget alternatives. As you climb higher in the tiers, weapons will gradually become more expensive. And in the end, you'll want to replace your budget weapons with the very best ones, and those unfortunately are quite costly.

thats sweet of you but its totally fine I don't have a problem getting crystals I even have some laying around in my vault(I bought the one you recommended). Im just a little intimidated by the method because don't you loose the weaker crystal thats equipped once you use a stronger one? Right now the weapons Im using are Azathoth Curled BowCursed Bow, Demonic Blade, Hunters Ring of Stars, Possessed Vampire Amulet, Tigrean Machete and Malevolent Grimfruit. I only equipped those because they match my pets tier. As for the scrolls I have him using Typhoon of Valor, Gigan Blow, Oblivijhen, Black Rose Summit, Vengeful Tide, Almighty Squall, Poisonous Barrage and Raging Hurricane.

I thought about putting a "Back to Battle Coliseum" link on the Healer page, but decided against it cuz I liked the idea of a slow trek of defeat back to the coliseum after having to heal...

So, I guess that is the main punishment if you lose, is having to slowly navigate all the way back (or just open it in a new tab xD)

I think both are good, but I would say don't feel discouraged to try new harder opponents just because you're afraid to lose. Some opponents have guides for them, or tips posted around for what kinds of damage and stuff they do, which can help. But sometimes it takes actually battling them to figure out a good strategy that works for you.

If you're only battling the easy guys that you know you can beat, you're not really challenging yourself. I think it's good to try the ones you might be a little scared of. And losing can also help you tell when you're getting close to being able to beat them. Maybe you don't win, but you manage to tie or get their health down farther than you used to. You're getting close!

If you go a long time without trying any new opponents, then it can be hard to tell just how strong your pet has gotten.

The healer has gotten expensive for me now anyway, so I usually use a HP potion from my vault to heal after losses then I fight a little guy to heal all the way back up. More roundabout way of doing it, but it's cheaper. :P

I have the healer open in another tab, so back to the battle colosseum is not so far for me :)

You're missing an infinite-use healing scroll. You've got some pretty good once per battle scrolls that block a ton of one icon. Usually they are better when you have multiple of them, so that in case of for example Mechalag, you have multiple Gigan Blow scrolls to protect you from the earth damage that Mechalag deals. I couldn't find any good tier 5 earth blockers (well, maybe the Aemis, but it's a bit overpriced and not an amazing weapon overall), but I tried with my tier 4 pet and a tier 4 set. I was able to beat Mechalag using and . The grimfruit you already have, the rusty pipe is super cheap and can probably replaced by any other attacker, although it does have some dark block which comes in handy, and the Divine Denizhen scroll is what you're missing! It's an infinite use scroll with 5% healing every time you use it, and blocks a little bit of all icons. Very useful against most of the mid range opponents. You can start off with this one, and upgrade to the Aftershocks (or a different one) later. It's a lvl 4 light scroll from the shrine. Check whether it's cheaper to make or to buy directly from the shop search. I'm confident that this will allow you to defeat Mechalag (and probably some other opponents) :D

I should of known. Yesterday I battled a troll thinking it was going to be an easy win, but boy was I wrong. I barely escaped from that thing. And here I thought I found a weak opponent.

I went ahead and made the Divine Denizhen Scroll and I just got the Rusty Broken Pipe as a prize for battling , Im going try your strategy!

The Troll is very misleading, and one of the more complicated opponents. There used to be a forum group dedicated to battling him, but it wasn't really active anymore just before the reset. I'm not sure if it will make a resurgence now that people can battle him more again, or if most people will just decide that they have better things to do than waste time with him again.

yea I did my research afterwards and he's a tricky one, I got lured in.

he is too powerful I haven't been able to defeat him, I can't even defeat Angrybeard or Pete. Those three I always get stuck on...Im training every day though, and doing the battle quest until I get stuck.
