I have a genderless pet that I'd like to change to female. Would the Zapper or a Gender Berry work? I've been away from the site for a few years, so I can't remember, haha...

Both should work, iirc the berry will change your pet into a random gender (but then a second berry should switch that). I'm not 100% sure but I believe that's how it works

the zapper no longer changes gender. using a gender berry will change the pet to either male or female, but i believe it's random which one it ends up with, so if you get the wrong gender, you would unfortunately have to buy and use a second gender berry.

I've had the Zapper change a pet's gender three times recently- once on one pet and twice on another. Recently as in the past week or two. But it's random, so might be better off buying berries than waiting however long it takes for the Zapper to do it.

i know there was an announcement that it was no longer the case, but according to this update post they may have changed it back due to user feedback.

I can confirm it's back. If it happens again I'll try to remember to nab a screenshot for better proof than just my word.

The Zapper does still change genders (I was zapping my pet Yakimochi earlier this week, and she kept getting zapped between male and female), but I'm not sure if it can only change the gender of a pet that's already male or female.

The zapper doesn't zap genderless?

I didn't have to wait long to get a screen cap of my pet's gender getting changed. It seems pretty common now.
