I just recently came back to subeta and really want to create a CW.

I've searched the forums on Custom Wearable section (all the forums with a star beside them) but haven't really found anything I was looking for... and I don't want to harass CW makers/staff.

Some of my questions are:

-What are batch slots? -What are batch releases? -If you go with "Direct to Cash Shop" option can you ever stop selling them even though the item will be unlimited? Or how exactly does that work? -If you sell any items in your Cash Shop do you make the profit or does the main Subeta Cash Shop? -What happens to the CSC you spend if your CW is denied or need resubmitted? Are they just gone? -If you need to resubmit an item that was denied originally for approval do you need to pay the CSC cost again? -How do commissions work since an item needs approval before you can guarantee an item? -What are private releases and how/why are those done?

I know this is a lot ^.^; and if there is any other info you think I should know before going on the endeavor of trying to make one please let me know :)

  • a "batch" is a single release of an item that consists of either 5 or 10 copies of the item (the ability to have smaller batches was added only recently). when you submit an item, you can decide how many batches will be able to be released - this can be one batch, twelve batches, unlimited batches, whatever number you want. the only rule is that you can't lie to others about how many batches will be released - it's fine, for instance, to say "this item will start with 1 batch, and if enough people are interested i will release more batches, with a limit of 10 batches total." it's not fine to say "this item will have 2 batches" and then release a third when more people show interest.

  • slots are the way you assign buyers to copies in a batch. when you submit a batch, you will have a list of text boxes where you can type in users' names so they will receive a notification with a link to pay, and once everyone has paid, the batch will be submitted. if the item is approved, everyone on the list will receive their copy of the item.

  • when you submit an item direct to cash shop, the default amount will be unlimited, but you can change the quantity to any amount you want on the manage your cw shop page, including 0 to stop it from showing in the shop.

  • profits from items sold in your cw shop go to you. in this case, you are not receiving the full price of the item when someone buys it, because you paid a reduced price to submit direct to cash shop. instead, you will receive whatever profit is leftover after accounting for the item's default price. for example, a 10-item batch of tights costs 4,000 csc to submit normally, which means each copy technically 'costs' 400 csc. (if you did it this way, you'd want to charge more than that in order to make a profit.) if you submit directly to cash shop, those tights would have a minimum price of 500 each, so each time someone buys a copy, you receive 100 csc. if you set the price to, say, 700 csc, you'd receive 300 csc each time a copy is sold.

  • if your cw is denied, the csc of you (and everyone who slotted, if you took slots) is returned. if you need to resubmit a previously-denied item, you pay again, and if it is denied again, your csc is returned again.

  • most artists will agree to a certain number of changes if the item is rejected. you'd have to discuss it with whoever you're commissioning beforehand. for instance an artist might say, "i will make 2 revisions for no additional cost, but after that i will charge extra for each subsequent revision required. after 6 denials, i will no longer make revisions."

  • private releases aren't really an official thing. it just means the submitter decides who is allowed to buy/own the item, usually their friends or members of a special forum group they created. it's not supported in any official capacity, so you'd have to ask around to find out the specifics of a given item. for instance someone might submit an item that only members of their group can buy and the owners are not allowed to sell/trade the item to people outside that group, but they released 5 'public' copies that the owners are allowed to sell/trade to anyone. these rules aren't enforced by subeta staff, so technically someone who owns a 'private' item could sell/trade it to whoever they wish, but doing so would likely make the submitter quite upset and could cause the submitter to blacklist that user from buying their items in the future. you can even make items in your cw shop 'private' by locking them and requiring an invite to buy.

uhh... that's a lot so let me know if anything was unclear.

asking in CW Forums is a perfectly good place to go. Yeah, they're cliquey and mean IMO, but they know what they're talking about

Subeta doesn't allow you to make just one of an item. Therefore they get made in batches. This can be expensive. You the owner can try to front the entire cost yourself in hopes to sell them all or just because you want lots of copies or to give them to your friends, but this usually almost never happens. Instead, the image of the proposed CW is presented to the "interested public" and they are given the opportunity to help you syndicate the cost. A batch slot is one share.

Subeta is willing to favor those creators and owners of CWs by limiting how many batches can possibly be ever made ever. Each batch is a release of x copies of the same item, whatever quantity Subeta is requiring nowadays. If an item is in your shop, then batch releases happen automatically. If it is not and you are selling by hand, then each batch will need to be syndicated/paid for by the creator.

Unlimited means exactly that. You cannot change this, last I knew. Some CW shops have passwords attached, so this can be used to be even more cliquey I guess if you have and item that you have not deliberately hobbled yourself by claiming "Only two batches" but nevertheless are only willing to sell to your own selected clientele?

In no way do you yourself make the whole amount of the price of a CW. All items belong to Subeta and are licensed. You only get a share of the sale.

Upon any kind of denial, unless your item is a clear violation of Subeta's policies against plagiarism (and you show a history of doing this, and get your ass frozen or banned from CWs) you get CSC back.

Commisisons are private deals. They are only relevant to Subeta if fraud is happening. They work as agreed between any honorable you and any honorable artist.

Subeta doesn't officially support private releases. This is the owner of the CW preserving their economic interest by making their items exclusive. In no way will Subeta enforce this, but the CW community is very cliquey (if you havent guessed my opinions on this yet) so there is potential social cost here. It used to be if you Pawned an item, users could tell but now this is entirely secret. What you yourself do with your own "private" items is up to you.

One batch of a cw is 10 slots. So to submit an item fully all 10 need covered. Most people offer up slots so they alone don't have to cover the full expense. Batch releases are just putting the item out onto the site. You can stop the sale of an item you place into the cash shop, however I think once you do you can't bring it back. Unless you offer it in another color you can bring it back that way. I'm not sure about personal sales of cw's in your own shop other than as sp. If an item gets denied you get the reason (s) why so you can try again. You do not have to pay to fix the errors... I think you have up to 3 times to get it right. This is why many seek out designers who have a good approval rating. If you go with them however they usually have their own fee or want a copy of the item as payment. Private releases are usually items with one or two batches. These are usually personal meaning items, made for just friends or an "exclusive recolor" of another item that might be common. I have few that I got by filling a last slot or found it for sale or traded it.

FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
