So I chose to pay for the guaranteed "something will happen" each day for the avatar skins. It has been 5 - 6 days now and nothing has happened and no new skins have been added.

If you aren't seeing any skins unlocked on that page in the wardrobe, you should probably file a ticket and see if a staff member can help you. The skins should be unlocked for you automatically when you get them, and that option has been working for other people.
