Hello! This may be a silly question and I'm sorry if it is. Is there anyway to adopt the Pet ID # of a pet that is inactive? The name is cleared to be used and that's fine and dandy but what I REALLY want is the unique Pet ID # that PERFECTLY fits one of my pets. I highly doubt that this is possible but it's a shame for it to just sit there.. rotting.. :'( I've also noticed while searching for similar number patterns that a lot of pet ID's are missing as well. Like no pet exists for that number. Thank you for any and all help!

nope, once a pet ID is in use it stays attached to that pet forever.

there are a couple of potential reasons for missing pet IDs. a long time ago in subeta's early days, inactive accounts weren't just set for clearing - they were deleted, including all pets, and pet IDs never get reused so those are gone forever. also the pound has been cleared a few times over the years, so all those pets (and their IDs) have been deleted. there's also been a reported glitch where trying and failing to make a pet (for instance trying to use invalid characters in the name or a name that is already in use) "uses up" the ID and instead moves on to the next one for the next attempt.

No, this isn't possible unless you were to adopt the actual pet from the owner or the adoption center. Pet ID numbers are attached to the specific pet itself and cannot be traded between pets, that's actually what allows us to be able to change pet names in the first place (same with user IDs being attached to specific accounts).
