i'm in the mood to get spooky !! let me know your favorites !! let me know what kind of movie it is, or why you like it! i really like newer ghost stories, gimmicky 80's horror (like Child's Play and Nightmare on Elm Street), and a cute kid's halloween movie here and there (like Monster House, that one was cute!) i'm not a huge fan of gore, but if you are, let me know about it!! let's get that HALLOWEEN HYPE GOING !!!!

I am actually excited because now I can watch the movies that I usually have for Halloween and such. :) It's nice when it is the right season to watch something good. I am probably going to be watching Hocus Pocus, HalloweenTown movies and possibly some of the older horror movies. I actually have been waiting a full year to watch Hocus Pocus again and Halloweentown. Has become tradition to watch them around Halloween. I think it is more that I enjoyed them growing up and then kinda just stuck. But finally! It's the season!

"Hercules, huh?" Percy frowned. "That guy was like the Starbucks of Ancient Greece. Everywhere you turn--there he is."

As a kid, Hocus Pocus was my favorite. c:

Now it's for sure The Shining. Hits all the right notes of horror without being gore-y because I'm a wuss and can't handle that either.

Jack Nicholson's performance is bar none. ❤️ /swoon

Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas are my go to films for Halloween! As for horror; my favourites include Saw, Insidious and Grave Encounters. Also the Evil Dead trilogy is always amazing! :)

What're you buyin'?

A true classic,, in my opinion, "Mad Mad Monster Party"

The original Halloween (1978), Scream (1996), and an indie production called Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006). I like Halloween because it has that genuinely intriguing atmosphere that draws you in, unlike other movies that use gore and "shock factor" in order to keep people watching. Scream because it's a mystery who's behind the killings as well as it being a good movie, and the last one because it's enjoyable.

Get Out (2018), The Host (2006), Crimson Peak (2015), You're Next (2011), Creep (2014), The Hunger (1983), The Orphanage (2007), Fido (2006), Tusk (2014), Return of the Killer Tomatoes (1988) + Attack of the Killer Tomatoes if you're up for it although all from the first movie is explained in the sequel.

if i remember correctly none of these should be too gory, although I should mention that Tusk has some pretty extreme body horror and The Hunger has more than one explicit sexual scene. based on what you said you like, The Orphanage is a pretty great ghost story while Fido, Tusk, and the Killer Tomatoes movies are all pretty great gimmicky fun. the other ones are just good movies imo, but those are my top picks based on your first post.

also seconding Hocus Pocus as a good "kid's Halloween" movie. Trick 'r Treat is also a good Halloween-specific movie but not kid friendly.

Scarecrows and Jack Frost are my two picks.

Old, and obsolete.

WAY late to the party but if anyone's still looking for horror recs, I got some!! -The new Goosebumps movies were SO charming -Pontypool (it has a little bit of gore but it's a really interesting and fresh premise!) -The Endless (also really fresh premise) -Snowpiercer (idk if anyone counts it as horror but like....absolutely nailed making me feel scared) -Everyone's recommended the Evil Dead series but....The Evil Dead series -Near Dark (cowboy vampires? yes)

  • Creep and its sequel! I was really surprised at the sequel being really solid
  • The Invitation (I swear I held my breath the entire movie omg) -Hereditary (not MUCH gore but when there is it's kind of intense)
  • i LOVE the original Wicker Man from 1973
  • Tucker and Dale VS Evil (gorey but it's a comedy, it's SO charming)
