Hello! I'm looking to commission a few bug antennae CWs with USD.

My bugsona (I guess that's what I'll call it) has one crooked and one straight antenna, which I've been dreaming of replicating on my HA. The crooked one is on the right (my right hand side, so left side of the HA) and is kind of curly. Like this, if you'll excuse the MS Paint: https://imgur.com/a/CUBeU

The one that says "canon" is usually how I think of it, and the other two are just variations (the right antenna can bend in different way depending on my mood, it's kind of chaotic)

I'm not super familiar with CW rules, but if it's allowed, I'd love to commission two separate items for the left and right antenna so I can layer them and can maybe swap out the right antenna for one of the other forms. That is, each overlay would be one antenna. If this isn't allowed then I'll be okay with having both antennae in one item.

The antennae should be black and be thicker rather than thin, so a thickness similar to the and would be great.

This would be for personal use, so I would have the only copies of the items. I'm completely new to how this works and couldn't even find the rules about artist copies (rip me) and all of that... I would definitely appreciate being pointed in the right direction, the CW process seems super complicated and I just want some antennae on my head ;-;

[edit] I.. I have a lot of trouble with left and right, I may have messed it up in my ms paint sketch....

Artist copy is something that is not adressed in the official rules as far as I know, it's just something that usually is done: the artist gets a free copy or if they don't want one add slot cost to the commission/recolor cost. Usually it's fine though if you mention in advance that the item shall be private/limited to your copy and that you don't want to allow the artist a copy.

If you need any help feel free to poke me as far as the submission process goes. i'll go and dig up some helpful threads for you.

Also I'd love to try if I manage something decent, but I haven't drawn an awful lot of CWs and never done a commission before, so there might be much better options. :P

edit: Also different items for the two antennae should be no problem. Since it logically is one item (at least to me, just like with stockings) you could submit them as one I guess, but usually everything that could logically be separated need to be two items, so with this you definitly are on the save side. :)

Sorry for another edit: Something like this? It's just random flat color, no shading yet. Let me know if you like them that way. Can still do changes at this point. If you want me to do this the total for all 4 (completed item including CI, no copy for me) would be 20$.

Looking for some previous years Melody items. Especially books and minions. Happy to trade!

ahh thank you so much for the kind and helpful response. What you said about artist copies does clear it up for me. Thank you for explaining everything you did!

I like your little antenna doodles so far, and I've seen your work before :) I'll take you up on the commission offer. Do you want to discuss any terms for the commission (here or sMail)? I'm pretty chill but if you want to write up some basic terms just to be safe I'm happy to look and agree to them. Cuz usually I see artists have things about how/when payment is handled, the rights to the artwork, handling denials, etc... (This is why I said CWs seem so complicated to me :P )

Your flat colors are a good start to what I imagine (and impressive considering I only gave a terrible MS Paint drawing for reference) there are two changes I would make:

  1. The straight antenna actually seems a little crooked, could it be entirely straight but then bent at a 90-degree angle at the tip? So... kind of like what I have on right now, except with a pointed rather than twisted/round tip.
  2. The thickness should be a bit more consistent throughout. I think it's the right idea to have them be thicker near the base, and then taper towards the tip, I think it's just a bit much in your sketch so it looks more like horns than antenna. Making the taper subtler would fix it I think :D

Thank you again for the help :D
