I keep seeing Subetalodge referencing "2005 donation items" as the origins of items but I don't see that 2005 presents exist. Tome of Endurance for example, is one listed with September 2005 as it's origin.

Does anyone know what's up with that?

Until May 2006, the Donation Present item was reused for all donation presents, there isn't an item box for months before May 2006

So like, the item from whence really old donation items came from is called...the Donation Present?

They were called by the month, year, donation preset; such as January 2005 Donation Present.
