Is there a way to turn of the base face while customizing? I can't use some of my items because the base one shows through or makes me have multiple eyebrows :( Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm new!

no you can't delete them. You can hide them by dragging them below your Base layer.

Wardrobe used to have a "no eyes" feature, so maybe this is what you remember? Anyways, now that there aren't any limits in how many layers you have have in each HA region, playing with layers and ordering is usually the answer.
