Although I am in the U.K., I just want to wish everyone in Texas well as they deal with Hurricane Harvey. Keep safe everyone xx
Thank you <3
They're not expecting the flooding here to really start until like Sunday into Monday, because we've been really dry lately so we can deal with some rain. But it's supposed to be raining for like 5 days straight, so as it keeps piling up the risk for flooding increases. ;~;
The particular area I'm in /usually/ doesn't flood though, or if it does it's only a little, so I think my family and I will be okay. I am concerned for people who live in North Houston or other areas around the city that have flooded heavily during recent storms. Also people who live closer to the coast that have to deal with the storm surge and high waves.
So glad to hear you should be safe. Hoping that's its nots going to be as bad as they expect. We Brits are always complaining about our weather, but we never have to endure such extremes as you.
Again, I hope everyone stays safe xx
Thank you so much for you well wishes! I'm from Corpus Christi, but luckily my family evalcuated up north. I hope everyone still in its path stays safe.
I'm doing great in Austin, Tx. Still getting pounded by rain. We are prepared though! Hugs!
In search of and . Pm me if you're selling either or!! Miss by beautiful GSD.
In Houston. Its been raining like mad all night. My husband is working overnight and is likely going to be stuck at work because the major roads between us are flooding.
Luckily his workplace is safe and I sent him to work with extra clothes, food, and a blanket. I just wish his plant would have shut down...
All the best from me as well - please stay safe, everyone!
Oh no, that's hard - I hope he can get back home despite the rain. Does he work at such an important plant that they couldn't shut down for a couple of days?
(Ok, I too would have to come to work regardless which catastrophe had happened but I am working with old and mostly helpless people...)
His plant makes just makes stuff. They are usually a pretty good company, but they made bad call here. My husband and a lot of workers are sheltering in place because they could leave this morning. His car flooded, so he is going to be there until the roads clear or emergency services come pick them up and take them to a shelter.
Im glad he is safe at least and has a bud nearby who will try to pick him up if the roads drain.
I hope anyone else in Harvey's path is safe. My part of town got one of the lightest hits and my apartment complex is now an island basically. I cant imagine how awful it is for the rest of the greater Houston area and for those in Corpus.
, any update about your husband? Was he able to get home or is he still away? How are things going for you, as well?
I hate to hear this news. Prayers sent to those that are affected by Harvey.
Thank you for this thread....
I am a mixed bag of emotions. Angry with the city of Houston and surrounding areas for numerous reasons. Hurt for the families that lost their loved ones and their homes. Exhausted from the constant hide and seek shelter from Tornadoes that took place for most of the time we were being pelted after Harvey made landfall. I want to help my local community in anyway I can and I'm not sure I will be able to do much due to several roads being closed as many of our major roads and highways are still submerged in high water.
I am grateful that my home was not damaged further from the storm and or that we did not lose power all that often or have anything out of the ordinary occur (downed power lines, damaged trees or cars...).
Pinging some other lovely souls that were caught in the mix of the madness that may want to sit and talk it out when they're around.
It has been a very stressful few days. Yesterday evening, though, the same came out for the first time in quite a while and it was amazing. It only peeked out from behind the clouds briefly, but it was so nice seeing it.
Our home is fine, as are the homes of my immediate family. We had a very close family friend who is a doctor lose both of her practices. At first she was worried that her home was underwater as well, but we found out today that it's fine thankfully.
The neighborhood I grew up in took on a lot of water from river flooding. My dad took his boat out to help with rescue efforts yesterday and he said it was the worst current he had ever tried to navigate in.
I am grateful that we are safe, but my heart hurts for all that people have lost.
My boys (10 months and 2.5) have been a bit stir crazy, so I'll try and see if there is anywhere I can take them tomorrow to do something.
Also, adding insult to injury, my husband was in a car accident last week and his car was totaled. Now buying a new car is going to be a lot more difficult and a lot more expensive probably.
Thanks for the ping

He did. He got home yesterday with no issue <3 We got a little dampness on the carpet by our walls; looks like the condo we rent may have some foundation issues. But it is getting cleaned and I am thankful that it was the only damage we got.
May I post a link to a fund-raiser on facebook? My cousin is doing this, so I'd like to help, if I may.
Those aren't allowed. @ MarchOnOff [Edit] Wait. You can post it on Facebook but not on Subeta.
It is already on FB, my cousin post it there. Thanks...
I'm from Houston, my neighborhood is built on high ground so we didn't flood, but a lot of surrounding communities did. I missed 2 days of work because my company stayed open through the whole thing, but I wasn't about to put my tiny little sports car with less than 9000 miles on it through any standing water.
I know a lot of people affected by it too. A lot of my coworkers were either flooded or stranded - one coworker and her family had to be rescued by boat, another had got out 30 minutes before the roads and her entire neighborhood flooded, and a third had moved into his brand new house 2 days before it flooded. And I have a friend who lives near one of the reservoirs and she and her family was given only 15 minutes to evacuate, and they don't know how long it'll take before the water recedes and they can get back into their house to see what the damage is. I know the news has been saying that it could be over a month before the water near there recedes.
I live in Central Texas and it just rained a lot (there was a tornado warning the morning it started raining). But it threw a wrench in my travel plans. I had to reroute and reschedule my flights to and from Massachusetts because of the storm. My city is mostly dry now but there was flooding and other inconveniences. People from Galveston had to evacuate and stay here.
I see a lot of requests to donate for hurricane relief around here, and someone in a Discord group I'm in is stuck in Beaumont. It really is serious for the southern part of the state :(

I have family in Houston. In fact, about two or three weeks before that stupid bastard Harvey the hurricane hit, I was in Houston visiting. We were joking about it, how at that time it was just a tropical disturbance that was chilling in the Atlantic, off the coast of Africa, and Houston hadn't seen a major hurricane in so long, and then the thing hits. My family was lucky though - a few downed tress, some lost shingles, power outages. All of that sucked enough, but they and their homes are all okay and that's the important part. Only one of my cousins had to deal with flooding in her home. We sent them a little money to help.
