There are a couple pet names on the horizon that I have my eye on, but after missing the last name I was watching due to a glitch, I'm a bit paranoid about these ones slipping through my fingers as well.

There was a thread created for the bug back when it was happening the most(Accounts clearing too early), but the posts stopped with no mention as to whether or not the glitch had been fixed, so I'm out of the loop as to whether or not it was ever dealt with and finished. :I

If it's still up and about, I want to make sure to get informed enough on what goes on with it so that I don't lose any further names to it.

and have been making posts in Annoucements about all the little thingies on-site that they have been fixing. I don't remember them mentioning fixing this one. If I were you I'd look through those and see, and also through the last ten pages or so of 's big post in Suggestions too.

I have been keeping an eye on the bug-fixing posts and I don't remember them handling this yet, either. I'll look through them again though and get back if I find my answer there, as well as check out the suggestions post.

Do you know what happens if you try to get the name one day early but it isn't available? Can you just try it anyways and if it's not just abort the name-changing process altogether?

- I noticed an account cleared a day early just recently so I think it's safe to assume the glitch is still going on.

My advice would be to start checking the name you're after at 3pm the day BEFORE it's due. You might get lucky!

- if you try for a name and it hasn't cleared, you just get the generic 'this name isn't available' message. No CSC is taken at that point so yes you can try as many times as you like xD

As long as the names still clear at noon and not just randomly during the day or something, I think(and hope) I should be alright facing off with this glitch. xP ( I'm a tryhard when it comes to cute names, they're just so pretty D: )

Names clear at 3 pm, not noon. I believe that yes, they still clear at 3 pm the day before, if the account does in fact clear ahead of time.
