I've returned from... AGES ago. I see that my username was taken. I see that my username was taken almost a year ago, in fact. I see that the person who claimed it has been inactive for that same amount of time and therefore the name should be up for reclaiming in 7 more days. How lucky I am.

However, since I am a returning user from ages ago I have no actual clue how this works. How do I do this? I see the thing in the dashboard saying I have a free name-change if I click there, so is it valid to change it to THAT name again, even though it would be reclaiming the same name I had before? I don't mean to seem vindictive, only opportunistic :) I only want my name back so I hope to take full advantage of the truly lucky timing that stems from my returning almost exactly when the name can be reclaimed.

That's even if I'm understanding all this new stuff correctly.

Yeah, you can change back to the same name when it opens up. No harm in doing that, no one is going to think it's vindictive either :)
