Hello! :)
Since we're( and myself ) obliged to write one post together as a team, I thought it would be a good idea to make this board. Everyone can discuss here and I'm excited for your ideas! :> Feel free to brainstorm. C:
Here's the link to the second task: The Second Task - Champion Roleplay Challenge
Sooo...I had a kinda interesting idea for one of the opponents, though I'm open for other suggestions. c: [li]"There is something you must know about your opponents to help you succeed in this duel," Professor Moussa said in a somewhat grim tone.
It's stated that we are free to choose the opponents and I was thinking about bringing in my other OC from Hogwarts, Elizabeth. The interesting points would be that she already has a full description and behaviour so that would give us some more time to focus on the duel itself and that I'd know how she would act. And I personally like the idea because both of my OC's are rather ambitious(and engaged xd ) and it could be fun to have them duel against each other; it would be an interesting situation and probably grant some points for creativity.
oh wow, I like it!! What if it's very much like the second task in GoF...only instead of rescuing someone they care for, they have to battle them?! Corvus and Elizabeth and Bran would have to face his little sister, Lynnie. It will be interesting to see how they all react to each other and if Bran would allow her to win because he doesn't want to harm her, or if his competitive nature kicks in. And it would be easier to write as you said, since we both play both the OC's.
Thank you c: And oooh, this sounds awesome! I think we should totally settle for that idea...unless something better comes up? I try to take some notes over the day and post them later here. c:
I support this idea! I think it's really cool what ya'll are thinking about doing.
That's a really cool idea! I definitely support it too :)
Duel(l)ing Club - Second Term [RP] I love the ideas you've expressed here. A two-on-two duel against a partner and a sibling sounds interesting in terms of competitive drive, among other things. Maybe you'll find a little inspiration for jumping off points in the linked topic? I'm not sure if we had any other Dueling Club threads or instances of dueling period.
How are you two collaborating on the RP, Google Docs? Please let us know if you need anything from the rest of Ilvermorny. đ

Thank you c:
I'll check the Dueling Club RP tomorrow as it's kinda late here already.
We haven't thought about such stuff. oo I thought it would be okay to collaborate everything here? We could create a new topic as well.
I have made a few notes over the day ( (and everyone else c: ) )
I made a note to research more on useful duel spells. It's a bummer that protego is the only protective spell, so the characters probably have to dodge most spells with their own spells so we don't repeat protego too often.
As for the writing, we could make a rough draft on what should happen, like in a screenplay, first. Then put everything in a nice text. I have the feeling this would work best.
EDIT:
I've made a few suggestions for the duel itself:
We could start with an introduction... I've written one, but it's on paper and I have to copy it first It's actually just small-talk between Brandon and Corvus about their possible opponents, then the surprise that the opponents are in fact Lynnie and Elizabeth. Bran is saying that Lynnie is too young to volunteer and she teases him by asking if he's too afraid to loose in front of all the students and the girls.
I'll try to post more tomorrow! :> Had a crazy day today.
That's how far I've gotten with thinking.
Google Docs is really easy to share and edit collaboratively; you can work together more directly on something, but here is fine too!
Fyi, I'll be away from 8/31 - 9/5 for a Labor Day (U.S. holiday) weekend vacation.

I've took your advice and started writing in Google Docs. C: I've made some notes from the Duel(l)ing RP regarding the shield charm, but the one for Dark Magie seems pretty useless? I've thought about not only shield charms but instead dodging spells by firing own spells. :D
Here's the link the document btw. <: (I've made some suggestions for the duel itself one post ago :) )
Hope it works xd
Oooh and I'll be away for the weekend (Friday to Sunday afternoon) as well...had planned a small trip for months. I know it's interfering with the second task, but I'm actually really surprised we got so little time for a partner-assignment.
Your trip irl is way more important than the second task RP. Maybe the admins would grant a small extension because of Labor Day weekend in America? I'm not sure how many of the champions are in the states though. Labor Day weekend is considered the last hurrah of the summer here and it's very common for people to spend it vacationing.

reading through the list you made it sounds good so far. I will try to read the full document later tonight. Hopefully I can get a spare minute at work tomorrow to jot down ideas/notes of my own. If we can get most things planned before the weekend then I can fine tune and we can look at it again when you get back. Just concentrate on having fun this weekend!
good point about Labor Day. I'm not planning much myself, but I know a lot who are. And have fun on your last hurrah!! I'll be over here waiting for fall lol
You or should sMail . She might be agreeable to a small extension since it's partner work and there's the holiday.
Thanks! I love fall too but I'm not ready for summer to end yet. It's been great weather-wise this year by me, not too hot or humid, and I'm enjoying everything being slower and more laid back.

I didn't want to ask right away for an extension, but I'll definitely keep that in mind. oo My flight will take of Friday evening and I'll be spending some time at the airport, so I can take some notes as well. c:
I'm not even in America and didn't know about Labor day. xd My friend lives in an area where grape harvest is a big thing and they have a big funfair every year. C: It's like a sign for autumn, though it's still rather sunny and hot. c:
Have a safe flight! The grape harvest and fair sound like a lot of fun. I hope you have a good time with your friend. I'm leaving in a couple hours as well but I'll try to check in on Subeta on my phone if possible.

Thank you! The weekend was great, but the flight home was delayed so I can't get home right now and I'm waiting for further instructions. Maybe they'll get me a cab or a hotel, don't know. What a bummer for a good weekend, tch. XD
EDIT: I'm home now lol
How's it going? :) I've added a few things and I'm at 1600 words right now. c:
Glad you had a good trip and got home ok in the end! I'm just home now from mine too, so I'm going to spend this morning catching up on Wizarding things.

I'm really anxious with the end for the Second task coming closer. oo

I'm going to post here with the revisions since I think it will be easiest. Let me know what you think please.
[spoiler=Second Task RP]After the headmasters had announced the second task, Corvus and Brandon turned towards each other.
âNow thatâs going to be interesting,â Corvus stated amused. He took the red oak wand out of his pocket and stroked a hand lightly over the smooth wooden surface. A duel was something he really loved and the wand that had chosen him years before made a very fine dueling wand due to the type of wood. Both were truly a perfect match. He knew that Brandon was ambitious as well and a fine duelist, too.
âI hope we donât have to feel sorry for our opponents,â Bran replied with a grin and Corvus laughed. âBecause I donât plan to,â the blond boy stated. âWeâre going to win this.â
âIâd say that you need to go for the offensive spells,â Corvus chuckled. âI tend to over think things...not like a certain Thunderbird student. No offense.â He made a few sparkles with the wand in his hands to test the functionality.
âNone taken,â Bran replied amused, âI was just about to suggest the same thingâŚbut I might have worded it slightly different.â
Corvus laughed at this.
Just moments later, an American witch with tanned skin arrived in front of the boys and smiled. âHello, my name is Derivia Barnett,â she introduced herself. âIâm here for the weighing of the wands. It is my job to make sure they function correctly,â she said. âIâm so excited. Iâve been making wands for a while but itâs an honour to be invited to the Tri-wizard tournament. Shall we begin?â
Before either boy could respond, Mrs. Barnett took the wand out of Branâs hands and twirled it between her fingers carefully. It emitted numerous small blue and green clouds. She eyed it carefully and stroked a finger over the wooden surface.
âWell well,â she said, ârowan woodâŚvery protective and never known to be in the hands of a dark witch or wizard. A fine wand for dueling, especially for defensive spells, and yet it is enhanced by the dragon heartstring core making it almost a contradiction of itself as the core is more powerful and easier to turn to darker magic. However, I feel this wand to be in perfect condition and in tune with you.â She regarded Bran a moment before giving his wand another slight flick. âYesâŚslightly yielding as well...this wand is in perfect condition and capable of great things. Use it well.â With a smile of delight, she gave the wand back to Bran.
âI checked the wands of your opponents yesterday evening and it is certainly interesting to get to know you by your wands.â Mrs. Barnett said with a chuckle as she held out her hand for Corvusâ wand as the young man had tucked his into his sleeve after seeing the way Branâs wand had been pulled from his hand.
Corvus reluctantly handed her his wand with a slight frown and a serious expression. He didnât like to be analyzed, especially not by strangers.
âOh!â she exclaimed, ânow this is strange. You live in America, but your wand is made by Ollivander.â
Corvus nodded. âMy family is originally Scottish. It was an indisputable condition that my wand would come from the greatest wandmaker in the UK,â he explained. The comment made Mrs. Barnett look at him with a slight pout, but she didnât comment further about how, where, or why Corvus had acquired his wand.
âNow...what do we have hereâŚâ the witch murmured as she began examining the wand, âRed Oak. A perfect dueling wand suited to those who are quick-witted and adaptable, able to think on their feet and reaction swiftly.â She looked at the boys. âYou two will surely make a great duo in any duel.â She waved the red oak wand and a few sparks emitted from the tip of the wand. âDragon heartstring as well. A very offensive duo we have here,â Mrs. Barnett pronounced. âHmmâŚunbending flexibility,â she stated with another light flick of Corvusâ wand. âSo you wonât back down, hmm?â
Corvus narrowed his eyes for a moment. âIâm just ambitious,â he replied and wished for the weighing to be over.
Bran grinned slightly at the slight annoyance of Corvus and found it somewhat amusing.
âWhatever pleases you. Good luck to you both.â Mrs. Barnett concluded and gave the wand back to Corvus, before moving on her way. Once she had completed her own task, the witch took a seat to watch the champions at their tasks.
âFinally thatâs over,â Corvus whispered and polished his wand, not only removing the slight smudges, but reconnecting with it.
Bran chuckled. âIt was pretty obvious how annoyed you were,â he said.
âYou think someone else noticed?â the dark-haired boy asked a bit worried, glancing around.
âEven if they did, unless she talks, youâre safe,â Bran said, amused.
There was a brief commotion and as whispers and a few gasps sounded, Corvus turned around just in time to witness the arrival of the championâs opponents outside the northern wall of the castle. His facial expression switched from surprise to disbelief when the opponents for the champions of Ilvermorny stopped in front of them.
âLynnie?!â exclaimed Brandon before Corvus could say anything. He shook his blond head. âNo, you canât volunteer! Youâre too young!â he said, with a hint of worry in his voice which he wasnât able to hide. What in Merlinâs name were the headmasters thinking?? And how was he supposed to battle his sister? What if she was injured in the duel?? How would he explain that to his parents? Heâd looked after Lynnie for so many years it was ingrained in his being. And nowâŚnow he had to cast spells at her? He was beginning to regret ever putting his name in the Goblet.
But Lynnie â Lynette Calder â laughed at Bran. âIâm old enough according to the headmasters,â she said. âAre you afraid to lose against your little sister in front of all the students?â she replied cheekily and then added insult to injury by tacking on, âIn front of all these girls?â She loved teasing her brother and grinned at him.
Brandon shook his head. His reputation was on the line now. Okay, so much for feeling horrible and as if heâd never be able to lift his wand against the little pest. He couldnât wait to throw a harmless, but humiliating, jinx her way now. Taunt him, would she?? âOf course Iâm not afraid, because we wonât lose.â
Lynnie chuckled and reached into her pocket to get her pine wand.
Corvus on the other hand stared at the second opponent as if he couldnât believe his eyes. âLizzie?â he asked confused. âWhy are you here?â
Elizabeth Covington grinned. âI should think that was pretty obvious. I arrived at Ilvermorny between the first and the second task. When I was asked to help with the second task, I just couldnât let the chance slip away. The chance to bring you down to earth,â she replied with an amused look.
Corvus looked at her as if he were having a hard time understanding her. His face gave him away.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. âYou have two choicesâŚyou can duel against me,â she said, âor you can decide to be a classic gentleman and simply give up now, leaving your poor co-champion to have to duel both Lynnie and me on his own.â
âI wonât give up!â Corvus replied quickly, a flicker of determination and ambition in his eyes which made Elizabeth grin.
âJust what I wanted to hear,â the young witch from Hogwarts said. With those words, she slowly walked to the dueling area for Ilvermorny while glancing briefly over at the other champions. She noted the students from Hogwarts, both the champions and the spectators. However, she didnât feel like talking to them now or later. Now was the time to focus on the coming duel.
Corvus looked at Brandon who still seemed not to be happy with his sister as their opponent, but he had the feeling that Brandon had accepted it.
Brandon returned the dark-haired boyâs look with one of his own. He hadnât missed the Slytherin pin on the newcomerâs robes. âHow do you know that girl from Hogwarts?â he asked Corvus curiously. âI mean, you seem to have known each other pretty well for her to speak to you like she did,â Brandon added. The girl had been teasing Corvus a bit, and Corvus was not the type of person who got teased by a stranger.
Corvus looked over to Lynnie and Elizabeth as they took their places in the dueling area. It seemed that Elizabeth was explaining some spells that she considered useful for the task; the two girls were conferring in quiet voices and with a few glances at the boys. He nodded shortly at Branâs questions and comments. âWe do know each other. Weâre engaged,â he explained with a certain pride in his voice.
Brandonâs eyes widened in surprise. He recalled Corvus mentioning that he had an arranged engagement set up, but heâd never expected to meet the girl. Then again heâd never expected to have to face his little sister in a duel. âSo theyâre using the ones we care about most against us,â he said quietly. His mind went back to another famous Tri-Wizard tournament and he added, âInstead of having to rescue them, we have to fight them.â He took a deep breath and readied his rowan wand. âDonât let your feelings get in your way.â
âThat's rich, coming from you,â Corvus replied and laughed dryly. His answer caused Brandon to grin and give a little shrug.
The two took their dueling stances and waited for the headmasterâs sign to begin with the second task.
With another BOOM from Professor Fontaineâs wand it was time to start.
After the duellists had bowed to each other, the atmosphere was tense. A wizard duel was always so exciting.
Lynnie started things off quickly by casting a shield charm â Protego Maxima â as Elizabeth had instructed her. Though it was a difficult charm, Branâs younger sister was able to produce quite a strong shield for the girls. She was gifted with different charms and spells and was delighted that the Protego had worked so well. Now she only had to maintain it for a while.
Corvus on the other hand had no time for basic spells like Protego, even though it was useful, and he had volunteered to be the defensive part for this duel. He had his own attitude when it came to dueling and this was no exception. Instead of a shield charm, he began dodging the spells Elizabeth used.
Bran was a bit surprised that Corvus neglected any type of protection charm, but the blond boy swiftly brought his focus back to the duel and began trying to bombard and break the shield Lynnie had created. It was stronger than he had expected as his sister was quite persistent. Deep down there was a part of him that was proud of Lynnie, but there was no way heâd let on to that fact, especially not now. Bran still had to rely on Corvus for their defense, although he was a bit worried that they didnât have any shield.
Elizabeth knew that Corvus normally scorned shield charms and she used that an advantage for Lynnie and herself. A flash of violet hit Corvus out of nowhere, and he wavered a bit before he started to laugh.
Corvus looked at Elizabeth, who had a smug smile on her lips, but he was still laughingâŚand couldnât seem to stop!
âI always said you should laugh more," the Slytherin girl exclaimed in an amused voice, her wand still pointed at him.
With a hand to his sides, Corvus tried to suppress the laughter, but the tickling charm continued. It only stoppedâŚFINALLY in Corvusâ opinion!... when Bran used Flipendo on Elizabeth, knocking the girl backward. She fell to the ground. Corvusâ laughter slowly faded, partly as the charm dissipated and partly because he wasnât used to seeing his fiancĂŠe hurt. True, it wasnât much of an injury, but it made him stop and stare for a moment.
As Corvusâ attention was focused on Elizabeth, Lynnie rushed over to help her partner back to her feet.
Bran was already pointing his wand at the girls, but paused as he saw Corvus appearing frozen.Of course he has to play the gentleman right now, Bran thought quite annoyed. âCome on, Cor!â he said insistently. He had been worried that his own feelings would hinder him, but he hadnât considered that the ambitious Horned Serpent boy might actually have a soft spot too. Bran didnât want to lose, especially not yet, and not in front of everyone.
The dark-haired boy glanced over very briefly at Branâs yell. He bit his lip, then nodded and focused again. It was a Tri-Wizard task after all. He couldnât afford to let down his guard.
Bran seemed pleased that Corvus was back in the duel and fired a well-placed Bombarda Maxima at the shield charm. It completely vanished and the two girls were vulnerable to attack. Bran and Corvus flashed a look at each other before firing two different spells, simultaneously, in the direction of the girls. Lynnie quickly reacted and whispered a Fumos which created a defensive cloud of smoke, but since she wasnât using her full concentration on it, the combined spells from Bran and Corvus swished through the smoke and hit both girls who fell back.
âDid we get them?â Bran whispered curious and looked to Corvus who looked as clueless as his companion. Moving in unison, the boys started over to the cloud of smoke. While Bran seemed to get faster with every step, Corvus suddenly paused.
This was too easy, he thought. Lynnie could be probably knocked out by the spell, but he knew Elizabeth well enough to know better. His eyes widened in the sudden realization that their opponents could be still prepared to fight. The thought came a split second too late however as a green light traveled fast out of the smoke. Suddenly, Corvus found himself hoisted into the air by his ankles and below him he saw an amused smirk on the face of the person who was holding a vine wand â Elizabeth, who was now whispering something into Lynnieâs ear.
He gasped with surprise and tried to get down to the ground again, but it was effortless. Bran was shocked for a moment and looked at his partner struggling in mid-air. Lynnie used this moment to cast a Protego Maxima charm and shortly after that a Fianto Duri. This was a defensive charm used to strengthen shield spells.
Bran attempted to recover and attack, firing a quick Jelly-Legs-Jinx towards the girls, but the spell was repelled by the protective shield which had been erected seconds before his jinx. The Jelly-Legs-Jinx ricocheted off the invisible barrier and would have hit Bran if he hadnât leaped to the side and rolled, coming up on his feet and whirling to face not his opponents, but Corvus, wand at the ready. The dark-haired boyâs eyes widened as his partner pointed the rowan wand at him. âTrust,â Bran said softly, before calling louder âLiberacorpus!â Corvus was brought back to his feet again.
However, before they had any time to take their stance again, the word âExpelliarmusâ echoed through the air in Elizabethâs voice and a scarlet light hit Bran unprepared, causing his rowan wand to drop out of his hand. A flash of surprise and wounded pride was on his face, but he knew the rules of this task well. If somebody was disarmed, the witch or wizard would be considered defeated. He bit his lip and decided to back off.
âItâs up to you now,â he said to Corvus and sighed. Defeated by two little girls. Sometimes, Bran cursed his tendency to not only rush in headlong, but also to help out others. He should have been a bit more careful. With another deep sigh, he looked back at the remaining three people on the field.
It seemed that the three had given each other a little break. Corvus was concentrating on turning the tables and the girls were really enjoying their small victory.
Elizabeth then took a step forward, and even more importantly, inadvertently moved from behind the barrier of the shield charm. Corvus grinned slightly at this opening. He pointed his wand at her and a turquoise light struck her, slowing her down. The Impedimenta jinx worked well.
Lynnie looked a bit confused and tried to quickly run through a list of spells in her head that would possibly help. Before she could settle on one, Corvus made his next move.
âEbublio!â Corvus then said and a brilliant purple jet of light accompanied by purple flame and smoke emitted from his wand, leaving Elizabeth trapped in a giant bubble that was floating slightly in the
