...that I received at work today. I already submitted it to notalwaysworking.com lmao.
(I work at the front desk of an assisted living home. One of my main jobs is to answer the phone. I live for callers like these.)
Me: [Business Name, My Name]. How may I help you today? Caller: This is Windows Technical Support, ma'am. [A woman answers with a very thick Indian accent. At this point I'm thinking, JACKPOT! WE'VE GOT A LIVE ONE!] I am showing a virus on your computer. Me: Oh, really? Caller: Yes ma'am. I'm going to need some information from you so that I can remove it. Me: Oh, I don't think so. Caller: Ma'am, this is a very serious matter. I need your cooperation. Me: No, you really don't. Caller: Ma'am, please, I am from Windows... Me: No, you're not. Caller: Yes ma'am, I am from Windows Technical Support and... Me: Seriously? Still? Does anyone fall for this anymore? Caller: You don't understand, ma'am, I need your help to remove... Me: Oh come on, you know I know what's up. I know this is a scam. Caller: This is no scam. Listen to me, I need you to listen... Me: This is a scam. Come on, can't you guys come up with something new? Caller: [She's getting pretty angry at this point, which I'm thrilled with, as I usually don't get to mess with them this long.] Ma'am! Stop cutting me off! I need your cooperation now! This is a very serious matter! Me: Yes, I agree, scams are a very serious matter. I'll be forwarding your number on to the appropriate people. Caller: No! You don't listen! Your Windows computer... Me: My Windows computer? I'm running a Mac... Caller: Well does anyone else in your household have a Windows computer? [She sounds completely exasperated right now and I'm trying not to laugh.] Me: Well yes, my mother has a PC. But I'm at work right now. Why are you calling me at work? Caller: sounds of total exasperation This is a business?! Me: Yes. It's the business I answered with in the beginning...rolls eyes Caller: Well why didn't you tell me! You are wasting my time! Me: puts on super cheery voice I sure am! Wasting scammers' time is the best part of my day! Caller: more sounds of exasperation followed by a dial tone
[For the record, I'm not really on a Mac, lmao. I can't believe this call went on for so long. Kind of made my day.]
This just made my day, besides getting my net back after a week of nothing.

My parents get this call all the time. The last time they got this call, my brother answered and he said "I'm going to call the RCMP" and they said "The RCMP are [the c word] and so are you"
I laughed when he told me.
Omggg this was so much fun to read.

Ugh why are scam callers so rude. One woman from a fake medical collection agency demanded to know if they were talking to the right person, and got angry when I wouldnt tell but asked who she was instead.
I later called my hospital, as well as googled that number and company. Everything pointed to: Its a scam. I can't believe these sickos sit around ruining peoples' day like this.
Oya the "company" is called medi-credit if it ever comes up in anyones lives.
I was seriously thinking to myself, "Please tell me she lied about using a Mac" and was happy to see that you did indeed lie about it rofl.
My fiance one time got a scam call about a problem with Windows 10 on his computer and how he had to purchase software to fix it while he was over at my house. For fun, he listened to what the scammer had to say, but my fiance actually graduated with an Information Technology degree. The conversation ended with my fiance correcting the scammer on his knowledge of computers and software and the scammer got so worked up that he did that immature thing where he mocked what my fiance said in a kiddish tone and immediately hung up. I about died from laughing.
Hah! I love it. Nicely done. Have you seen any of James Veitch's videos on replying to scam emails? They're gold.
I had a guy call me about the same thing and after insisting that everyone in my house ran nothing but Macs (which is an obvious lie) he says "it's not on your computer it's about your gmail account..." Like I couldn't believe he was still trying.. hahaha
The persistence is hilarious. Like, yeah... you can tell my computer has an apparent virus? Sure, Jan.
We get these sometimes at home too, either saying it's the CRA, or RCMP, or some other 'big scary' authoritative organization we have in Canada. I just feel bad for the people they do manage to snag that just don't know better...
Reading this made my day lol, scammers are weird!
I get a lot of doctor kind of calls. So when a scammer called I had to give her some time before I figured it out. She mentions that she can help me with insurance. I ask ok, which one? She dodges that. But I still give her a chance as people usually sound like airheads. It's when she said "straight to your bank account" I caught on immediately and just started laughing...said something about her not actually expecting anyone to believe this scam, she said it's not a scam...more hysterical laughing from me and she hung up.
I usually handle these kind of calls by putting on some annoying music and just setting the phone down...some guy speaking another language kept calling daily and it stopped his calls. The song was "I like to move it move it"
Currently I'm having a problem where someone speaking Spanish calls but goes straight to voicemail. It sounds like a recording. I can't block them without knowing the number.
