When you read a book now you get pet feedback like when you feed a food to you're pet.

First book I noticed this on and I hated it

I thought "great now they are going to bitch and moan about books as well as food." -_- There I was thinking they loved all the books I read to them :(

but this may just have made me love it <3

Oh, there is pleeenty of bitching about the books too. XD Some are positive, but honestly, I could do without the commentary. =0P

- I agree. When I saw the first message I thought it was a rude way of letting us know that we didn't need to/couldn't read the book to that pet again. I was going to make a thread about changing it to something for polite lol

I was just puzzled, since you can only read a book once. Pets make commentary about the food they eat that's every bit as sharp as these reading ones, so I am fine with it as it is.

For me it's one of those, the messages are so few, the humor value dies shortly after they bring this feature to life. The last time I laughed at a food commentary was when Chiana asked if I was trying to poison her, while feeding her poison. XD But I'm not sure that's worth all the "feed this to me again and I'll bite your hand off" claptrap. I put these sentiments in the same basket.

....I fail to find such opinions charming in my bookworms.

I'm just glad my cats irl don't speak English because if they were this unappreciative to me, I'd have a tough time loving them

I like that our pets voice their opinions.... even if they can be brats about it sometimes.

But when someone picks a character for their pets, and in my case, no art, no stories, but I picture them all as avid book worms. And Frack is named after a fat cat that should love food, pretty much everything. A lot of these canned snippets for food/books don't mesh with anything I think about them and that IS obnoxious. Beyond them, you know threatening to bite my hand off and telling me the books are wastes of paper.

I guess for me, it doesn't really enrich my experience in any positive way. If it works for you, more power to you. (not being snarky here, promise! XD)

Lol well I am so used to my mentality that my characters are brats only reason why it amuses me. XD but I get where you are coming from.

I mean I'm a huge bookworm myself and I still absolutely think there are books better left unwritten so hopefully at least that'll help you in some way??

I've had the misfortune to read some awful books, and I have read a lot of books and would be considered a bookworm by most. I had been taught that books are valuable and to keep trying to read stuff because it took me a long time to learn to read. It was rather liberating when in my twenties I realized, no this book is crap and it's going in a crap direction and the author is such crap and I am just not going to finish it and I will sell it back to a used bookstore with relish.

But then I'm American, and Americans don't read. as a rule. Just because a pet is a bookworm pet doesn't mean they must absolutely love all the dreck that gets published all the time always.

I always get a little annoyed when my pet says that it loves to eat food that I hate and hates food that I love. Occasionally, it meshes really, really well and I get some enjoyment out of it.

Example: [item2=Obsessive Manual] "Hundreds and hundreds of pages in many different languages, all saying precisely the same thing." What's my guy say about reading it? "I didn't want that to end!" :) A little spark of happiness in an otherwise bleak and mundane task.

A pet is like Jonah in Mystery Science Theater 3000 Moon 13 The Moon, it has no control over what it eats, reads or plays with. Foods and toys you can try again with (psst, your pets' responses are random). Books not so much, they are one time dealies.. Let them have their opinions
