Ok, so I wasnt here for the great cw pawn or the meltdown ensuing but theres still a link to sell cw in the pawn shop why exactly?

It takes a lot of cw out of the market into...where? Are they deleted? If so that means items that probably were limited to begin with are just...gone?

I am very confused why you can still pawn a cw? I mean selling it for sp seems to have been a thing recently too which makes me like...eh, what exactly is happening with cws.... theres no way to tell what prices should be either, and then theres items that are sitting on accounts that have been frozen... so each year more and more of older cw are just poofing. I guess I was just sad thinking about even more being pawned off into a void.

Thank you to all my friends for being there =)

They're still in the pawn shop. Staff mentioned when the CW pawn shop was closing that they would possibly open it up in the future for like special events only.

I personally have always been willing to accept sP for CWs and I've seen CWs sold for sP for a very long time so I'm not sure how that seems to be a new thing, but I'm very thankful to be able to sell for the pawn shop because sometimes you need CSC and you can't afford to wait for weeks to sell an item to get it. Not every item is popular and easy to sell.

I don't understand why the CWPS was closed to begin with...

i believe it had something to do with private CWs being pawned. And that is against the rules of those releasing them. Which only adds to the 1337 status ?? and in all honesty, only the 1337 keep track of who sells what and under what conditions. And the CW 1337 know exactly who they are. (1337='elite' and please notice a hint of sarcasm in my post)

I understand people wanting their CWs to remain private, but once it is out of your hands, then what happens to the item should not be the concern of anyone except the current owner. Once you sell something, you relinquish all rights to tell people what to do with it, imo. If these people are so concerned, why don't they just rent out their things?

you're definitely asking the wrong person. they're not lending out for fear of not receiving it back....? i guess.

and i agree: once you give an item away [by whatever means, it's fair game what happens to it]. though, i can't not see the other side of the coin as well. - because in real life, if you mean a lot to me, and i give you something precious [emotionally or otherwise], i'd like you to keep it and not sell it or throw it away. :/

iirc, it wasn't so much about privates as people felt it was destroying the value of CWs. People were pawning stuff to make a quick buck, so no one wanted to slot on items since they felt like they could just wait till it was in the pawn shop and get it for cheaper. Or something like that, I'm not 100% sure.

Looking to buy this!

Staff doesn't support private CWs so it wouldn't have had anything to do with that. The "rules" for private items aren't actually enforceable by staff or something you can be punished for (at least as far as being frozen for it or getting any kind of official warning)

The pawn was closed because it was making it incredibly hard to make new cws. No one wants to slot on something they could get cheaper a week later in the pawn shop.

And while this sounds like it's the 'submitter's problem' for not making a 'super wanted item', it's actually Subeta's problem. If people only submit super popular items and stop submitting anything that doesn't sell tons of copies, then Subeta stops making money off the market. I for example, have submitted 3-4 times as many items this year compared to last year, and that's in large part thanks to the pawn closing.

If you're interested in purchasing cws, please don't be afraid to jump into the cw market. Most of the market is filled with incredibly kind and welcoming people who'd love to see you there, even if it's just to pop in and say "Cool!" sometimes. =PP

I want the pawn shop back, or something functionally similar to it in terms of a search function.

I've almost completely stopped buying CSC or CW's as a result because I do not have the patience for selling threads. shrug

I really, really miss browsing the pawn shop. I find myself instinctively navigating to where it was and then feeling disappointed every time I realize it isn't there any more.

Same here. I wouldn't mind so much if the CW shop had any functionality whatsoever, but it's totally unorganized and hard to look for things you want... I liked the pawn shop because you could search by layer. I hope that a change is planned to make it easier to browse. :(

The CW Pawn isn't coming back. You can sell things because staff plans to use the cws in there at some point for something (or to open the pawn temporarily for special occasions).

What would be beneficial for everyone to do is to ask for updates on the CW Item Directory that staff was working on (if you need/want to browse what's new). Also useful: the SubetaLodge "Custom Items" list. You can organize it from newest to oldest/etc. You can also subscribe to newcw and see the latest releases posted there several times a week.

Also super helpful if you want to see new releases: join the customwear ping group that gets pinged for almost all cw releases.

For those who didn't pay attention, nothing about the pawn closing had a single thing to do with 'private' cws because subeta never has and never will recognize them. It was entirely an economic decision because the pawn led to less submissions.

Other great things we've gotten since the pawn closed to help make it easier to submit new items: reduced prices, the ability to price cws in our regular shops for csc, smaller batch size requirements.

All of those things did far more for the cw economy than the pawn ever did.

tl;dr : the pawn closing had 0 to do with private items, the pawn shop allows you to sell because staff will do something someday with the items, the pawn is never coming back.

ooo...a search by layer cw search...or like a cw market? i know each user has shops but it would be cool if they could put them up in a central market if they wanted. I wonder how hard making a code for that would be

Can I just say I love you?

is 100% right too. it's so much easier to get things on site now with the lower batch limits and submission prices!

So many more CWs are getting so site way more easily than before. I have gotten many more cws on site since batches were lowered in price/quantity too! Things are improving :)

You can search by layer as well as by release date etc on SubetaLodge. The database directory that staff was/is working on also allowed for layer search as well as arrangement by release date and/or other criteria.

You can also change the filters in the Wardrobe to do exactly what everyone here is complaining that they can't do because the pawn closed....(even though there are multiple ways to do it):

In the wardrobe, when you're on the items and can see both your HA and the filters you've got this:

Order By Options Search By: you can choose added to wardrobe or added to site - choose added to site Direction: ascending (oldest to newest) or descending (newest to oldest) - choose descending Layer: Pick your layer! Or leave it on All to see everything! CW Control: show cws & items, hide cws, or only show cws - choose only show cws Show All: your wardrobe or all subeta items - choose all subeta items Drawer: irrelevant as it doesn't currently work Per Page: choose how many you see on each page Name Search: if you're looking for something specific

You cannot search by layer in user shops but you can do it on SL or in the Wardrobe - and then you can just search the item name(s) you want to buy so -shrug-

I highly doubt they're going to put them in a central market, this is your normal, everyday shop that you resell other site items in. The amount of coding required to search hourly or more (or even less) to see if someone added/priced a CW in their shop and then drag that shop to a market and then remove it later if there aren't anymore CWs in it? Unrealistic. The shop search function has them showing up already, that's good enough.

Love you too lady ❤️ And yeah, removing the buy aspect from the pawn definitely helped the market, as did a number of other lovely changes to make it easier to find cws. The most helpful thing now would be if they'd finish that database haha.

[edit] I added it into my post above, but for anyone curious - this is supposed to be the database (it is currently not functioning at all):

We had a central CW shop in the cash shop where everyone's went into the same shop when they first started allowing us to put CWs into the cash shop. Staff completely controlled the price of all the CWs that went into it, and everything was automatically public once it was put in there, but not as many people put items into the shop and it didn't really do too well.

I've honestly found so much luck with user shops being able to have CWs priced in CSC now! It's become much easier to find things and things get submitted/released much easier without the pawn shop.

I know it's not fun for everyone because some people really hate the forums, and it CAN be scary, and I can definitely understand being intimidated to start in the market when its become so evolved...

But SO many amazing artists are willing to help new comers learn how to draw cws, while many releasers, like and many many more are more than happy to help people get their shops up and running and noticed more!

Staff made a lot of changes that made it easier to get things on site, which in the end benefits everyone because before so many things weren't getting submitted at all because if batches didn't fill it got SO costly for people to submit everything themselves and not everyone had the means.

I've seen SO many new people in the market releasing CWs for the first time since these changes and it's amazing to see the new faces as much as it is to see the old!

Searching in the WR, searching in the Slodge, yada yada, yup, it works but basically - only when one wanna see what's out there. It's useless when it comes to buying. Cause most of the things found this way are sold long time ago/require Sherlock Holmes level search work to find selling threads. In the pawn shop if you saw something, you could immediately buy it. The mentioned database would be a solution but as stated it's not working at all and it's been, what, a year since Pawn closed? While I don't care either way, Pawn or not, I buy about the same amount of CWs as I did using User Shops now (that's the only good thing that came out it, but they don't have layer search, so...), the "solutions" presented here are not sufficient.
